Wtf to insinuating your completely normal DS could be handicapped. That's some high level BS. My son talks really well for his age and my family will still act like they can't understand anything he is saying. Yeah some things aren't clear but he's 2.5. It's not supposed to all be clear.
BIL is a fucking idiot. He is going to be sadly disappointed when his 9 month old isn't taking in sentences, like he expected with DS1.
I told him that he sure can dish out "advice" about other people's kids, but apparently can't take it.
I swear your FIL and my MIL are the same person. She never buys age appropriate gifts and then tries to make G play with them the right way. Last time she was here, it was paper dolls. They were ripped up in less than 10 minutes.
That is a mess! Your FIL is aware that YS is two, right?
I'm thinking she needs to sign him up for emails that will flood his inbox with age appropriate ideas.
Doesn't work. I've already created an amazon wish list and asked him just not to buy gifts a million times. He still buys crap for DS basically every week.
Omg your BIL is an idiot. I don't understand not seeking prenatal care. How can you not be worried??
Update on my SIL. Still no prenatal visit but they are getting an elective ultrasound in 2 weeks at one of those boutique places to find out the sex and do a reveal on Christmas.

microworm, you can't fix stupid. Your ds is perfectly fine, he doesn't know what he's talking about. I do think it's nice that you advocate for her to get prenatal care. Why do people think it's ok to drop that kind of shit in conversation? It's your kid, you don't take that stuff lightly.

And Dd1 threw up again this morning. When I got up to get her, she was sitting on her mattress holding the bucket on her lap, but hadn't used it. She insisted on bringing it upstairs. She asked for her milk, so I sat her at the table and have her some. Shortly after drinking some I heard her cough, and grabbed a bucket and got it under her chin just in time.
She is now laying on the couch eating cinnamon toast and watching Daniel Tiger. We are supposed to make the 1.5 hour drive home today. I think I'm going to use our cheap cosco seat. Much easier to clean in the event of a mess being made.
My doc didn't check for heartbeat until 14 weeks and i only had 2 ultrasounds (anatomy scan and 39 week biophysical). They did order blood work at 9 weeks though. Maternity care here is pretty laid back.
I was in the kitchen with J baking snicker doodles when I hear my dog go crazy. I look around the Christmas tree to see what she's barking at and I see some guy looking in my front window. The windows are open and I'm playing Christmas music, so clearly someone is home. He looked slightly professional, so I think he was a Mormon or Jehovah which we get a ton of. Either way, leave me alone. I don't want to buy crap or read crap.
For anyone whose LOs have taken amoxicillin, did they have very soft frequent poops? DS is having this and I thought maybe it is a side effect of the antibiotics?

Yes we usually make sure to do probiotics when DD is taking medicine.

100% this. Should have mentioned it. It sucks but probiotics will help and bananas if he likes those
MH stayed with Clara today. He had a meeting at 3:30. I can leave at 3. Asked to work through my lunch so I would be done. That didn't fly so now I have to go work for an hour at home with a toddler that likes all my attention. Should be fun

Thanks! He already takes daily probiotics and usually eats bananas everyday but we'll try more. It didn't happen the last time but I figured it was normal. Glad I can get confirmation here!
oh let me know how the 20/20 goes. I can't get that here. It's such a crazy case and the husband is giving of the creepiest of vibes
What case is this? Is it something I should record?
woman in NoCal went missing while jogging. She shows up 3 weeks later dumped (alive) on the side of the road, hands chained, hair cut and 'branded' with a message. There's an very in depth thread on Parenting. The husband has been saying some pretty weird stuff

Yes! DS did 3 rounds of antibiotics for a stubborn ear infection and I loaded him up. His poo was still mushy but just once or twice a day. These are what I gave him. He loves that probiotic and calls it his "crunchy vitamin" because his other vitamin is a gummy haha
emmygirl, I had never heard of it before the Parenting thread, since it happened in CA. But it's an interesting case and the parenting thread is worth the read.
microworm - no one on this board understands anything I'm talking about and I'm an adult not a toddler! Send your BIL to me and I'll punch him if you like?
Thanks haykay13! We give him the Culterelle powder everyday to boost his immunity. It says you can give him 2 packets a day if he's sick. He pooped twice last night and first thing today but didn't poop all day so we'll see...

A police officer was killed in a nearby city this week while responding to a domestic violence call. I am in tears watching the procession through the city for him. It's so senseless and so sad. I can only hope that the massive show of support in some way shows the family how much he meant to the community.

DS is throwing a tantrum of epic proportions because he doesn't want to go the bed. This mama has no fucks to give right now. MS is in full force and I need to lay down before I collapse. Scream all you want kid.

I am an emotional mess lately. What gives?
Liked because I agree so much with you.
I'm regularly disgusted with the world.
It's fine for people to dislike the police - it's a free country and the police aren't perfect.
But, that's because they are human...like the very people they risk their lives to protect every day.
Senseless and violent acts like this don't just kill a police officer, but threaten our society, our hopes of justice and our own safety.
