Can we start a general feeding thread? For any questions, concerns, or rants about feeding regardless of how. So, by either EP, BF, or FF, all are welcome here.
I forgot how much patience you need to attempt BF'ing. I'm trying not to worry yet since my milk is not even in. But it's frustrating. I don't have a lot of colostrum like I did with DS. And the white board in my room says try to feed or pump 8-12 times a day. One nurse helps me pump, the other says it's best to just try with baby.

I personally would just keep offering the breast and not pump yet. If you are stimulating with both, when your milk comes in you are going to get 2x what you need. I'd just keep nursing every 2-3 hours or on demand.
Alex is pretty ok at latching, but I'm bad at holding him. And each time I reposition he slips off and we start again.
Ugh newborns are so awkward to hold. I remember it taking me an insanely long time to get comfortable nursing in the early days. Especially when you're still recovering and sore.
Yes! I BF ds but not on the boob until he was about 1 month old. Just holding a newborn is an accomplishment...
My girls were so different at first when it came to eating. DD1 was pretty sleepy still while we were in the hospital so the nurse told me not to let her sleep more than 4 hours without eating. DD2 on the other hand wanted to nurse every half hour, so the nurses kept joking that every time they came back in the room I had a baby on the boob. Both had reflux though, so they were taking liquid Zantac until they started solid foods. I'm curious to see how it goes with DS1.
N is super sleepy, which I wasn't expecting since she wasn't jaundice like G was... so I wake her every 2 hours during the day to eat and typically I'm already leaking by then. I wake her every 3 at night (ok... maybe I've skipped some 😜) but plan to stop that after we see she's back up to birth weight hopefully on Monday!
Because she's so sleepy she wasn't latching well, and I guess I don't have "long nipples" so we are using a shield (which I had also used with G) which is kind of a pain in the ass.
Any other STM have worse BF cramps the second time around?!? For those that don't know, when you nurse you tend to get contraction/cramp like pains for the first several days... (idk if you get that if you don't nurse??) but mine seemed much worse this time around.
