I think it's too early to have definite ideas on whether you will or will not hold your 4-5 month old back a year for school when the time comes. Apparently unpopular with some one the other bmb.

Amen. I thought the same thing when I was reading that.
I am registering James for preschool 😳, he'll start in September. Where did my baby boy go?!

I think you can't really make that decision til you have a young 5 year old, honestly.

This is a weird thing to have definite thoughts on at that age. Who knows how a kid will be when they are 4 or 5
I see it as a place to keep all your liquor and mixers and things you would serve your guests with. A wet bar is for entertaining guests, not just the owner. I would love to have it. Plus a place to keep kids snacks and drinks when they're old enough to help themselves.
I save other peoples' photo Christmas cards. This is very unlike me because I'm usually the first to throw crap out. But I usually decorate for Christmas just after Thanksgiving, and I have a designated spot to display Christmas cards, and it doesn't look right if I don't have any cards to put there. So I'll put up Christmas cards from the previous year. And then when I get a card in the mail I can look at the last year and say "oh, look how their kids have grown!" and sometimes I throw out the old one, but sometimes I still feel guilty and just save them all.

Maybe I don't get it since I've never had a basement living space.
My parents had a kitchenette like this in their last house. It's because they wanted guests to have all the comforts of home. The basement was solely guest space. But it didn't get used much (like when I would go and stay, I would usually just still go upstairs to use the real kitchen if I needed something) so I could see it just becoming a place to store alcohol.
ETA in their new house they have a full kitchen in the basement.

We have a full bar in the basement (unfortunately minus the sink) and we just spent money to put a new countertop on it. I like entertaining and when we have friends over, we do wind up sitting/standing around the bar. Maybe we just like drinking too much. I wish we had a sink there for ease of clean up and washing glasses and stuff.
We don't have a full on bar but we do have a small sink and mini-fridge in the basement because the previous owners finished the basement. I do keep my beer in the fridge because we buy in bulk (Costco baby) but the sink is soley used for rinsing out the cat's bowls.
beer fridge, wine rack, liquor cabinet... all make sense. But a full wet bar like this, IMO is excessive and kind of weird
I have a couple of family members with a full bar like this. Not in the basement either. They throw a lot of parties, so it's easy to tend bar for others, tend bar for yourself, added space to hang out in. It's always been convenient and fun.

Way too early. It's sad the the thinking this too early is the UO, it really should be the other way around. I don't understand why parents would even think this at any time before they start school unless the child is struggling with the skills needed to start school.
To be fair it was only 2 people, so perhaps not so popular. But I'm looking at my baby happily sucking his toes like whaaaa? School??
Parents here aren't even allowed to hold kids back. All children aged 5 as of Sept 1 must be registered for kindergarten. Any child turning 5 between Sept 1 - Dec 31 have the option of enrolling early. I don't like this trend of holding kids back to try to give them some edge
I was held back in pre-school cause the teachers didn't think I was emotionally ready. I hated it. I was always the oldest in my class, and at a time I so desperately needed out of my school and town, I had to watch what was supposed to be my class graduate. My parents thought I was ready, but listened and then regret their decision. Don't hold your kid back, unless it's really necessary.
I wasn't held back but as a Nov baby i was always one of the eldest (Sept cutoff), and it had some perks but also had some negatives. I was the first to drive so ended up ferrying all my friends around. I was the first to be legal to drink but no one to go to bars legally with to celebrate. And it can be especially hard for girls if they are nearly 2 years older than some of their classmates to go through puberty way ahead of their school friends.
I had to do a DK program because I was a summer birthday and they sent all the summer birthdays into that one. So I was one of the oldest. And always bored. I eventually skipped the 7th grade.

Ugh, yes! I was bullied cause I was the first to get my period on the first day of school. I told one friend, and before I knew everyone knew. I'll never forgive those bitches who bullied me...

That really sucks. I'm sorry that happened to you
They're pretty much all druggies now, but at least my personal stories are helping with my nieces and nephews who are all in a new school and facing bullying. Kids are jerks.
UO: this child looks ridiculous in these shorts. I think he's a ring bearer in a wedding here. I think if a bride asked me to dress my child like this I'd have to be like "oops! We spilled chocolate on the shorts at the last minute! Good thing I have these perfectly normal pants he can wear as backup!"
I send out cards, but I have 2 levels. I have 20 to family and close friends that get a cute Shutterfly card and then others get a generic card with a 4x6 photo added inside. None of them should communicate to each other and know, lol

We have one friend who has this in his basement almost exactly. He is a pharmacist and owns several pharmacies so $$$. Anyway he has a fancy Christmas party every year and an actual bartender is hired to work at it in his basement. They also have other servers in the kitchen and a chef working. It's a little weird and uncomfortable to me. DNW professional bartenders and such at what is supposed to be a friends and family holiday get together. It think it's snobby and show offy.

RE: Home Bars
I attended several parties at a couple of friends houses where they had some kind of bar. One had a bar in the yard. It was like a Tiki type thing. They too would hire bartenders to tend bar when they would host large parties. I never side eyed it. It was nice that there was someone behind the bar that knew what they were doing.
