My friend is about to have her second kid, and I want to get some gifts for her 2.25 year old girl who likes reading, colouring, and horses. Not sure what else she's into. Since she's about to be a big sister I'm looking for something or some smallish things that she can do independently while mama is looking after the new baby.
So far I figured I'd get a colouring book and crayons, and maybe a horse toy if I can find one suitable (so many toys are for 3+ years old). She already has dolls to pretend play with I think.
Any recommendations for books or other toys for her? Thanks!

Water wow books are amazing and super low stress for independent work because there's no potential for mess (except a little water spill maybe). Melissa and Doug has bundles of three for $12 or so.
Also Melissa and Doug - reusable sticker books. I think they have an animal themed one?

I was just about to suggest the WW books too. The package says 3+ but H had been playing with hers since right after she turned 2.
