Do you have a Doppler? Do you plan on using one this pregnancy? How often do you think you will use it?
Not gonna buy one. Too expensive, and once the baby starts wiggling there's no real reason for one anyway. I did download a Doppler app on my phone last time. Only got it to work one time!

I voted no. It would be nice to be able to check the hb whenever I want, but I have heard of so many women that have extra anxiety because they can't find the hb or the hb is measuring low. It's not worth it for me.

I just had a dream that I went to the doctor and they were too busy to listen so they just gave me the Doppler and of course I couldn't find the hb. They told me not to worry and just kicked me out of the office...
But no, I won't get one. What is this Doppler app? murran13
I had one with my first two because my very first pregnancy was a loss. I was paranoid. I was able to find baby around 9 weeks with both of my first two pregnancies. I sold it after having DD2 last year because we thought we were done.
I am a nurse and work at a hospital so I grabbed the one at work the other night and found baby with it!

The app is called Shell. I haven't tried it since downloading it but I found baby very easily the other night at work so I may see if it works this early on.
I voted SS. I hadn't planned on having one, but a girlfriend of mine brought hers for me to borrow. It's nice I guess but I would never have spent money on one.

I voted SS because I was firmly in the "No" camp until recently, and now I'm thinking I might cave and get one. It's been 10ish days since my last u/s and I'm already going crazy and called the RE to squeeze me in for another one tomorrow afternoon.
I HAVE to stop relying on weekly or bi-weekly ultrasounds for peace of mind for my PGAL brain. My girlfriend has one that I may try and borrow first to see how easy it is to use, etc.
megeliz1, how far along are/were you when you used it for the first time? I'm wondering if I can try at 9 weeks?
amyface813 I don't remember which one I used before. It didn't work very well and wasn't even supposed to work until like 20 weeks or something, but I think there are better ones out there. You literally just press your phone speakers up against your belly and if you're super lucky it can pick up the heartbeat and record it for you.

With my 1st I was probably around 10 weeks, with my second I was 9 weeks and I am currently 11+2, and found it Saturday night right away. With my first two, that early, it took quite a while and a lot of patience.

I have one from last time. I didn't get it until second tri. I had low movement, but that's because I had an anterior placenta and everything was just harder to feel. I always found the heartbeat no problem with it. I haven't dug it out this time yet, and probably won't for a while really.

I didn't get one with my rainbow baby and won't with this pregnancy. I think my anxiety would be far worse if I couldn't find the HB and then didn't have the dr to do an US to reassure me right then! It's really just until 18-20 weeks when you can start to feel kicks that it might help. But for me, nope
TTC #1 starting July 2013, RE last 2014 First Angel baby lost July 11, 2014 IUI #1 with injections successful: EDD 11/24/15 Rainbow baby DD born 11/14/15 TTC#2 October 2016 Second Angel baby lost Jan 5, 2017
Got one with my first pregnancy and used it all the time. Used it progressively less with each following pregnancy. Tried yesterday at nine weeks an couldn't find the heartbeat. A little disappointed but not going crazy yet.
Got my new Doppler but could only find my own heartbeat. Boo.
I YouTubed some "how-to" videos before I used mine and they were super helpful. I've also found that the baby likes to hide from it. As soon as I find it's heartbeat it moves. Little stinker. Just be patient, I'm sure you'll find it eventually!!

Don't get discouraged. With my first, my doctor was only able to find his heart with a Doppler at 9 wks by pushing my uterus upwards (from the inside) and pushing pretty hard with the Doppler. It took her some time.
