I think my co-workers have lost it today. I overheard a conversation where someone said: "I don't drink KY tap water. They don't put as much stuff in the water as Ohio. That's why people's teeth and stuff are all messed up here (KY)."
I can't attest to Ky vs. Oh water additives, but really???

I'm going to be "that mom" and bring in a shit ton of canned goods so Bub's class can win the food drive contest. They line up their cans in the hallway outside each room so I know exactly how much we need to put them in the lead.
mominthemaking14 take the 4,5,6 subway train to union square from Grand Central. On the 4,5 it is an express with maybe one other stop. Shouldn't take too long 10 minutes depending how far you are. Also, there is an amazing DSW in Union Square too, which I would like to think was my doing. I emailed the company years ago telling them what a great location it was and a few months later they were opening... coincidence... maybe...
Perfect -- My office building is right on Park Ave so we're across the street. That's super simple. Thanks for the details, VERY HELPFUL.
@mominmaking14, I'm jealous on your NYC day. I was just there a couple weeks ago and had plans for a day of fun but it didn't quite happen. Too many extra meetings. Stayed right at Times Square and never did see the damn tree. Have fun!

When does your co - worker get back from may leave? I feel like you need a serious break from work.

bazingaa - Wow, I can't imagine. I'm kicking myself for agreeing to stay at work until the end of March, and you have it so much worse doing all the added work. You seem like you're holding it together pretty well.
Welp... looks like we may be car shopping this weekend. The Volvo has finally kicked the bucket. FIL seems to be in denial. He's telling DH the place he took it to doesn't know what they're talking about (they haven't even diagnosed it yet) and we really need to take it to a Volvo dealership before we "give up on it"

Isn't the car like a bagillion years old and had a million problems? Cars don't last forever. Sucks about the timing though, with it being right after the move and the holidays coming up.

Yes. We tried to trade it in a few months ago when we were told it needed work and FIL was so upset that he took it back, did a bunch of work on it and gave it back swearing it would last 2 more years. The man has some weird attachment to this car.
To be fair, we don't know what's wrong with it yet, so maybe we shouldn't give up on it. But from H's description, I don't have a lot of hope.

Well then maybe FIL should just keep it? Or pay for the repairs if he cares that much? I would at least remind him that he promised two years out of the car only a few months ago. We probably could use at least one new car ourselves, but I just don't want to deal with that now. I'm a snob and will only buy new, and dnw payments now.

Boo. I wish I could combine or schedule a work trip when you ladies are in town

FIL can't take the Volvo back because they already have an Acura MDX is similar shape as the Volvo that MIL has a weird attachment to, so she drives that and lets her brand new Audi sit in the garage. Their neighbors would probably complain if they had 2 POS SUVs parked in the driveway full time. LOL I do not understand these people.
I think FIL would probably offer to fix it if he could take it to his mechanic where he apparently gets a deal, but he would have to tow it to IL, which is not an option. So I think he's just going to have to get over it this time.

I think it's a good time of the year for car shopping, right? Silver lining maybe? And I think all Volvo owners are slightly obsessed with them. I dunno what it is, but I've known so many.
