My Dad's ex gf has kids in high school, and they still fully believe in Santa. They are your average teen. I was surprised, but they said a lot of their friends still believe. So either these teens are claiming to still believe in fear of losing gifts, or this generation is going to be interesting.

I really find this hard to believe.
Yeah... I've been teaching high school for ten years. Some of my current students are the definition of "sheltered." I have never heard of a kid who believed in Santa.

My Mom and I talk about it a lot because we don't understand how. My Dad even had to play along when he was with this gf. He would tell them that he would have a cigar out on the porch with Santa afterwards. I even had to write them a damn note, because Santa apparently writes them back and they wouldn't recognize my hand writing.
My parents did Santa with us but it was a small present on Christmas (if my mom was off on Christmas). We opened most of our presents except stockings on Christmas Eve after church. My mom gave us "Santa presents" for years. I thought it was fun as a teen/adult. I don't remember believing in Santa or when I stopped.
I don't have older kids but teach 450 k-2 students. I would tell DD Santa is a fun fictional character and people have different beliefs about him. In class I just say different families have different traditions and try not to get into it. I teach Spanish so we talk about 3 Kings Day in Mexico.
There will be things we all have to address. Why does Sam have an elf and we don't? Why did Santa bring Sam an iPad and I got a book? What about my Muslim friends? What about if your kid knows the truth but their friends don't yet? What if your kid asks directly?
I have friends that don't do Santa and have navigated it well. We'll see!
