How long do you guys wait before giving a new food? Our pediatrician said 4 days, but I shortened it to 3 days because I was impatient. But now I am bored and there are so many fun foods we haven't gotten to, I want to shorten it to a new food every 2 days! But I don't want to be a bad mommy and have a reaction we can't identify...

My pediatrician didn't give me the same advice that is often mentioned here so I won't confuse you. But, I'll say that we didn't wait any particular length of time. Mostly, she got a new food one night and another new food the next night.
EDIT: I also give bites of combination food that we eat so she's getting all sorts of things at once. My pediatrician is totally fine with all of this.

Early on we waited. When we tried peanut butter, I waited on giving any thing else new. But, otherwise I am just trying other new fruits and veggies. We've done some of the high allergy foods (pb, dairy), and any other we'd isolate as well.I think the other day I did a food with pumpkin and then zucchini the next day, both of which we hadn't done yet.

bocaburger I do the same as above. If I saw a reaction then I'd back off but so far no issues. I'm very carefree about feeding though.

This. My pedi said wait 3 days in between new foods and 9 months for peanut butter. And I did wait 3 days between new foods in the beginning but got bored. Now I just give him whatever we're eating and purees. I also gave him peanut butter at 7 months. So far so good. There is no history of food allergies in my Family, so I'm not too concerned about them.
Baby girl lovesss sweet potato casserole (steamed sweet potatoes, breastmilk, cinnamon). Actually she is loving cinnamon period.
This weekend we did scrambled eggs with pepper & chives.
So far we are in the allergy clear with peanut butter & almond butter & eggs as far as I can tell. What allergen should I try next? Wheat, soy, shellfish?
I gave E cinnamon after reading this and he loved it!! I gave him butternut squash and mixed in cinnamon- it smells so yummy!

Yay! I also tried a little garlic powder in green beans. She loved that too
So when you give the baby solids, do you also give a bottle or nurse right after? LO only eats one or two meals a day (still not even consistently every day). Midway through the meal he gets cranky/fussy and wants to nurse. I don't know if it's boredom, hunger, thirst, or something entirely different. I've offered a sippy of water and he'll drink a bit but is not satisfied until he nurses. I'm so confused.
Sakinah We have R eat solids after he has nursed/taken his bottle at daycare.
I think he may have an egg yolk allergy. The past two days, I finally let him try some cooked egg yolk. Within a couple minutes, he threw up both times. Today, after eating, he had a rash on his forehead. 😕

Sakinah we do solids 2x per day about an hour after I've nursed her. That way she's not super full, but also isn't starving. She gets hangry, so solids before nursing would not fly.

What is the normal consistency of poop supposed to be at this point? Since starting solids it has definitely been thicker, sort of like paste... But yesterday it became actually like solid adult poops. Like in G's diaper this morning we had two distinct nuggets (sorry for the gross TMI). They're both pooping plenty and don't seem to be in pain so I don't think it's constipation. It started after introducing corn and blueberries.

Well it looks like we may be dealing with a pretty serious allergy that I'd never heard of before. I think I had mentioned that the first time we gave her rice she vomited, we thought she may have been sick at the time and wrote it off. Well she's now had oatmeal 2x since then and vomited. And when I say she vomits, it's severe. Like projectile vomiting every 3-5 minutes for about and hour until she's dry heaving. I took her to the doctor yesterday after it happened at daycare and we now have a referral to an allergist for a condition called FP.IES (food protein intolerance entercolitus syndrome). Its different from a typical food allergy in that the response is all GI related and not hives/swelling. So basically anytime you come in contact with a trigger food you get very sick within a few hours. Once your sick you're better within a few hours, but it can cause severe dehydration and your body to go into shock. If this is what we're dealing with there may be other trigger foods (dairy, soy, other grains etc). I guess most kids outgrow it, but we'd have to avoid those foods until then. So cue me freaking out about needing to avoid potentially all grains. MH of course had a super positive viewpoint that it'll make us eat a super healthy basically paleo diet.

remylove1011 that's tough. Hopefully the allergist can help you navigate trigger foods. Now does that mean you avoid it too if you're nursing? Or only she can't have foods? Glad DH could be so positive.

From what they told me and what I'm reading it looks like I can still eat whatever. It's something to do with the trigger food actually coming into contact with her GI tract. I guess breastmilk is always considered a safe food for this diagnosis.

Even though you may adapt your diet. Its nice to know you don't have to avoid it totally.
Oh no, remylove1011!! I'm so sorry! I hope you get the hang of it soon.
When do they expect she might grow out of it?
It sounds like it's not until 3-4 years old. So we'd have to avoid them until then at least. It's really making me think about all the things we eat that have those ingredients!

Ooph. Your diet is going to totally change - but you'll get to experience all kinds of new things! (Trying to be encouraging) And your little girl is going to be okay, which is the best thing!

Bc I'm dairy free I've been paying attention to ingredients and it's crazy to realize how much something is in stuff. And I'm only avoiding one ingredient. And I know soy is literally in everything. Thankful for such allergy awareness that it's easy to quickly scan plus Pinterest has a ton of recipes.
Puree people: have you started trying chunkier textures yet? I feel like the babies are ready for it but I will blame myself if they choke. They have done cottage cheese fine. I would like to do barley today and I milled the grains but it is still a bit lumpy... do you think that's ok?
