We introduced peanut butter this weekend too, and it was fine. I suspected as much, especially because I know she's gotten a few peanut butter smeared kisses from DD1.
We haven't done pb yet! I'm kind of nervous about it...!
I know, I was a bit nervous too. As a mom, I pretty much worry about everything!

So DS is starting to like food, just not oatmeal or the highchair. Cried for more applesauce this weekend and sweet potatoes tonight. DD didn't really like cereals or baby oatmeal either, can't blame them it looks gross. I even mixed applesauce in with oatmeal and no go. Oh well.
This kiddo wants to eat everything. She tries to grab whatever is going to my mouth when I'm holding her So far she's had oatmeal, peas, bananas, and pears. Pears were the only thing she really made funny faces with, but they are so so cute.
What kind of quantities are you guys giving? She seems to want more beyond 1 TB.
My kid only wants a few bites, eaglewife. If she wanted more, I'd certainly go with it.
The only thing my pediatrician said was to not let it mess with the number of ounces of formula she got in a day. She still needs to drink all those ounces as if she wasn't getting solids.

I'd say give more if she wants more. I say this because with my DD she never dropped ounces despite how much she ate during the day. So far DS appears to want more than 1 TB and since he's a peanut I'm not restricting him. It's only day 4 though but so far still drinking/nursing the same.

No restrictions as long as I nursed an hour or less before.
That said she seems ready for a second meal but I feel weird adding it before the 6 mo. growth spurt so I haven't. Plus I cannot imagine adding anything to my morning. I now 100% agree with a friend who said about her third kid, "I need her to be able to eat what [and when] we eat."

Are you supposed to wait to add a meal? Daycare says DD seems hungry in between and doesn't always make it 3 hrs between her bottles so I was going to start tomorrow and she's just turning 5 months. I had tried increasing her milk, but like I just posted in the BF thread I'm having a hard time maintaining that.

This is just me being busy/weirded out, not solid advice .

I added meals! My ped said it's fine as long as he keeps up formula ounces.

We are also on 2 meals a day. Same advice from the pedi - just not to go below 24 oz of formula per day.

Ok. I think my child may just be a piggie. She gets about 17 oz of breastmilk at daycare (roughly 5.5oz a bottle) then nurses 3-4 times. My best guess is that she's taking in 30oz a day. I guess we'll see what happens today. I sent a serving of sweet potatoes to daycare!

Ds is over 18 lbs and will be 6 months in a little over a week. He was taking 33 oz plus some solids, but then started spitting up a ton. He actually reduced how much he was taking in formula per day in the last couple weeks and is just as happy (but not spitting up!).

E is a peanut at 14 pounds... but he eats 35-40 oz a day 😳

Haha, ok. Glad it's normal. DD was 15lbs 9oz on Sunday at her sick visit and turned 5 months today. I think she's falling in "average" now.

30 oz. is normal according to one study I saw for BF babies. It gradually decreases to 19 oz. (average) as solids are introduced, I assume the night feeds are part of what goes.

I have one on each scale a peanut and a biggie, DD was almost 14lbs at 5.5 months and DS was almoat 19.
I haven't found a food that they love yet. But we have only tried 3 things. Carrots were the biggest hit. This weekend we are adding potatoes to the mix of carrots and see what that brings.

remylove1011, I thought mine was a pig too, he takes 4- 4oz bottles at daycare. Why are they saying he's hungry before the 3 hours, like why are they making him wait 3 hours? My provider gives me a post it each day of his bottles and most of them are between 1.45-2 hours. (ebf)
I asked at his 6 month apt about peanut butter and eggs and she said go ahead. She also said to keep giving it at least once every 2-3 weeks. If you just do it once and say "cool he's not allergic" and never again, they can become allergic more easily than with regular exposure she says. He hated avocado last night. It pained me to throw out a bowl of perfectly ripe avocado mush but I had just eaten dinner and had no use for it!

@spiceysalmonroll we had them doing roughly every 3 hours cause that's what she was doing for us. (They'll feed her earlier or later but 3 was her standard.) She does 3 5.5-6oz bottles. Now she's also doing a brunch meal, haha, around 10am of a puree.

So sending solids to daycare went well yesterday in terms of she ate them and finished her bottles. But they were seriously ALL over her clothes. They clearly had a bib on her but it was all over her sleeves, pants, and socks. I get that they feed her in a bumbo and that she likes to put her hands in her mouth between bites, but seriously... I need them to not destroy all of her clothing. Ugh.

I'm laughing because I have the opposite problem.
At pickup: oh! Baby girl is in new clothes. ...again. Teachers - she was a bit wet from drool and spit up.
We have been having fun with solids over here. So far I've made the food since it's been quick and easy. She has tried steamed sweet potato, winter squash, avocado & apple all mixed with breastmilk until it's a semi soupy texture. I haven't bothered to purée (too much cleaning) but instead do a quick mash, add some leftover pumped milk & serve. Love these! Haha, they had changed her out of the dirty clothes. I'm going to need to bring a new outfit for her stash every day at this rate!
