It was ok. As I may have mentioned in a previous post, I didn't invite my dad for Christmas since he and L are oil and water and I didn't want to deal with it. But the guilt of him being home along on Christmas was worse than dealing with the 2 of them. Lesson learned.
Christmas Eve, a few neighborhood families joined us for church and then for our traditional dinner at a local Mexican place we go to a lot. It was a fun dinner with 6 adults and 6 kids and a lot of margaritas. Kids actually went to bed earlish (9:15) We waited until 10 to get everything done, but we were done and in bed by 10:30 (did I mention how awesome it is not to have to put stuff together?!)
Kids woke us at 6:30 Christmas morning. They liked their new (HUGE) Nerf guns and other assorted toys. They spent over an hour "sledding" down the stairs on huge boxes that their actual sleds came in and then an hour making a fort out of them. LOL. Who needs actual gifts? We went to see Star Wars (don't go unless you have a solid understanding of the other movies - which I don't have!) and then over to a friend's house to nibble, play games, and hang out.
Aside from Monday, I am working all week. The kids have been in camp and L is doing a combination of seeing movies (she saw 4 on Monday alone!!!), working, getting in medical appts before the end of the year, and relaxing (she technically has the week off, but any work she does she can use as comp time for when we go on vacation - so she is trying to get in 8 hrs across the week.)

It was busy with family visits and driving. It was nice to be home Christmas eve/day though. Is cut two teeth so gas had a couple of tough days and nights paired with being over stimulated with family visits. H is off until Tuesday. I am pretty tired and am hoping to go to bed early tonight.
We had a good Christmas. My Mom came from Ontario and is still here till 4 Jan. We went to a friends for Christmas dinner. We've had it there for the last 3 out of 4 years since we got posted here. It's nice to have our little family of friends while we are so far away from our actual family. Our friends husband passed out before dinner and missed Christmas dinner! It was pretty funny, and he was the gluten free one so we didn't even have to have a gluten free dinner since he didn't even eat! lol Ah well.. was still a good night!
My Mom has been sick for half of her visit here. She got it from someone who was on the plane and coughing the whole time... good thing is we haven't gotten sick. But I think I might be getting a head cold... ugh!!!
Not sure what is happening for New Years. I think Jo is going to watch Hockey all day, so mom and I will do whatever we want. lol A friend of ours invited us over for a fire. But we have huge issues with her husband, he's a heavy drinker and a dick head... and it's never good hanging out with them when they have both been drinking because all they do it fight and it's so uncomfortable. Plus I don't want to be outside in -20 weather by a fire... doesn't sound like fun and I'm sure I would really get a cold! Staying home and watching hockey/New Years eve shows sounds like the best bet...

Our Christmas was good as well, can't believe it's taken me a week to post about it here.
On NYE we have a tradition where the closest bunch of us get together and do a Christmas Eve pj swap. We wear those pjs to bed. I also make lasagna every year, and this year was no different.
Christmas morning we all woke up early (my sisters and their boyfriends spend the night). We opened gifts and stockings which are a big deal in my house.
Julie saved my present for last, and I had absolutely no idea what she had gotten me, turns out it's a new MacBook Pro. I was absolutely floored, I think she has a video of me squealing in it, with lots of profanity.
I will say that gifts like this are not the norm for us to exchange, and I can't believe she did it, but to be honest it's more of a family gift I believe.
We got back from LA and Santa Barbara on Tuesday night and were both back at work Wednesday at 8 am. Sarah is almost 19 months old and did pretty ok on all the flights. I was just glad to get her off our laps after 4 hour flights. California weather was almost a healing balm to our shitty Illinois winter!
