Hi all! I'm expecting baby #2 in May and I would like some recommendations for a good nursing pillow.
I have an 18 month old that I only BF'd for two months because of multiple issues. (Wish I had known about TCF then!) I had a Boppy pillow with him but he was a large baby and I always felt like he was too large to get comfortably positioned on the pillow. I'm also heavy chested so it felt cramped and awkward.
Does anyone have any recommendations for any other brand of nursing pillows? I haven't done much research yet since I figured this board would have more useful knowledge.
I apologize if this has been discussed ad naseum, I did look for a thread but didn't see one.

Definitely the My Brest Friend, especially if you are tall or have a long torso. I saw this advice before my baby was born, ignored it, and bought a Boppy because I thought the cover patterns were cuter. After a week with my baby sliding around on the Boppy and it being way too low for the large space in between my boobs and my lap I ordered a MBF on Amazon prime and haven't looked back. It's great and is much more sturdy for a newborn.
+million on the my brestfriend pillow. I took it with me whenever I left the house because it helped so much. Total life saver when it came to us breastfeeding.

I didn't like the boppy until DS was about 6 weeks old. He was also a big baby. I used a regular pillow and sat cross-legged. Once he needed room for his arm to hang and I'd lost some of my belly, I loved the boppy and still use it when DS wants to nurse at 22 months. It only works if we do cradle or crosscradle holds.

Torso length is important here. I know you don't like the Boppy, but for anyone else reading this that's really short, the Boppy may be better. I tried the my brest friend pillow at the hospital and it was all up in my face. I couldn't use it. The Boppy was much better for me.
I got the 2 sided boppy breastfeeding pillow (one harder side and one softer side) and loved it. I didn't like the regular boppy until DS was almost 6 months old.
people do seem to prefer the my brest friend pillow to the boppy, though. when i used the boppy, i always needed at least 1 or 2 throw pillows in the mix, too. but i did a lot of laid-back nursing when DS2 was a newborn and found it much easier for both of us.
the my breast friend is great because you can buckle it on around you and it will move with you. I would let me little fall asleep nursing and with the "baby table" I could move around with one arm free. Loved it with both kids. And I am short torsoed fwiw.
I know it's a while off for you but at my hospital, the LC had boppies and Brest friend pillows. I didn't know this until I started going to a breastfeeding support group after E was born. If you ask, you may be able to try one there with an LC supporting to see what works best for you and baby. Your preference could change over time too - I love the Brest friend for nighttime nursing and newborn but liked the boppy better with an older baby since i just needed a little extra support for my arms.
