What's going on, ladies?

DS slept 9 straight hours last night - I really hope he starts doing this more regularly! I put him to bed just after 7pm and he slept until 4:15am. Of course, I woke up at like 2am anticipating his usual wake-up. I kept telling myself he was fine, but I had to go in and check on him. He was squirming around a little when I opened the door, but he didn't wake up. After he did wake up, he pounded 6oz and passed back out. I thought I was going to have to wake him up to get him changed before DH brought him to my parents' house, but he ended up waking up on his own right before I went into his room.

He was so full of it yesterday. He's been "half-giggling" for quite a while now, but DH got him fully giggling yesterday by kind of tossing him into the air. And then he was squealing/screeching with happiness when he was on his playmat and DD2 was laying there with him. It was hilarious! He is SO LOUD, though, so I can see that getting old pretty fast. LOL

Hi everyone!

So the weekend went about as well as I expected. N had a major meltdown Saturday night because he wanted to watch tv instead of getting in a family picture. MH and I decided we are going to ask his pedi for a referral to a behavior specialist when we take G to his appointment tomorrow. There is something going on besides being 4. Hopefully it will help us get some answers.

G and I both have colds. He's had goopy eyes for the last few days, and my head has been congested since Friday. My MIL sent me to take a nap Sunday afternoon which helped. G has been eating fine but I can tell he has some post nasal drip going on.

MH is working today, and I have both boys home. Typically N would have gone to school today, but MH was planning to swap shifts, so N is going tomorrow instead. My parents are coming down this afternoon and bringing dinner. My dad goes back to AZ on Thursday, so he'll get one more visit in with the boys before he leaves.

jwinct, G slept from 11-7:30 this morning! Of course, I was up at midnight having a coughing fit, I woke up when MH's alarm went off at 5:15, and got up at 6:30 to pump. N slept from 9 or so to 7, which never happens. I guess everyone was tired from the weekend.
@holachica, I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

smallpotato - I hope your colds go away soon. So many people here at work are sick; I'm praying I don't get it, but i feel like it's only a matter of time.
DS has had a clogged tear duct for a couple of months, so his left eye is always goopy. Massage and warm, wet cloths don't help. It gets pretty gross.

jwinct yay for killer sleep!! I can't wait for DD to start really giggling. She's been doing the half giggle for a while too.
smallpotato hope everyone's colds go away soon!

We are currently knee deep in switching from BM to formula. I will continue nursing when I am home as long as my supply keeps up, but when I am at work DD will be on formula. She did awesome this weekend with it, but I am beginning to think we need to switch over to Gentlease, which is what we used with DS. She got super gassy this weekend and was clearly uncomfortable. She has also started full on chomping on her hands and drooling. Gonna have to break out the drool bibs asap!

My car wouldn't start this morning for whatever reason. DH and I tried jumping it to no avail. Luckily it is his day off so I could take his car, but I need my car tomorrow so he is having my dad look at it while I am at work today. Hoping it is nothing serious!

adouces06 - DS has been drooling and chomping on everything, too. He is on the Target brand equivalent of Similac Sensitive and I know they also have a Gentlease formula. So much cheaper than the name brand! And sometimes they have deals where you buy 3 cans and get a $10 gift card. Love that.

First day back at work for me. 12 weeks have come and gone way too quickly. Ugh.

Hi y'all Im back!! To work that is. Sorry for the lack of checking in after delivery. Its just so hard to type on my phone all the time.

Today is little babes first day at daycare. I was a sobbing freaking mess yesterday. I checked in and shes not a happy girl there either. She said shes very fussy, but thinks its because she misses me and is with a stranger. She said it may take a couple weeks for her to adjust.

I hate that I had to come back already.

Hi all. I am back from my "vacation" and so glad to only have one cranky, needy toddler to play with instead of three. We spent the last 10 days with my nieces who are 3.5 and 1.5. V and the 1.5 year old fight a lot. It is worth it though for them to get to know each other and spend the time. I keep telling myself this while I'm surrounded by them.

One big positive is that my BIL broke V of the paci while she was with them the week before we joined them. He didn't realize I had packed it and she never asked for it. She went a week and a half without even saying the word nanny. Of course when we got home she wanted it. I told her santa took it to give to other babies who need it more. Her response was that Vneeds nanny. Nap time and bedtime has been a bit of a nightmare with lots of screaming but I'm still hopeful it's done. I am throwing nanny out today since it's trash day and then I won't be able to cave.

No big plans for us today. C is sleeping like the easy angel baby she is (I am actually glad I had the tough one first. It's so rewarding to have an easy baby after you have gone through everything with a hard baby). I'm working on the grocery list. I want to go buy groceries and clean the house today.

I almost forgot to tell you - I brought DS to urgent care on Saturday. I gave him a bath and noticed he had a hair tourniquet around his little toe. It was like a wad of hair, not just one hair. I pulled as much off as I could and couldn't tell if there was still a hair imbedded in his toe or not. His toe looked awful- there was (and still is) a cut/indent all the way around his toe and it was bright red, and just looked bad. DH and I couldn't tell if there was still a hair in there, so I brought him to our local walk-in place. They looked at it with a magnifying glass and there was no hair. They wrote an Rx and said only fill it if it starts getting much redder, which it didn't. By the next day, the redness had mostly gone away. He still has the cut/indent around his toe, though.

Here's his poor little toe before we went. It was hard to get a good picture of it. It looked worse in person.


And despite being rudely awoken from a much-needed nap to go to the urgent care center, he was happy as can be waiting for the doctor.

Welcome back, jillian! Once your little girl gets adjusted to her new environment, she will be just fine. That first day always sucks. Hugs! I hope it goes by quickly for you.

jwinct and smallpotato that much sleep sounds magical. I can't wait until C does that. A 6 hour stretch is our longest so far.

Im glad the holidays are over and we can get back into our routine. DD is still sick and congested. I bought a snot sucker yesterday and it does seem to help but she gets congested so fast. She's so happy despite being miserable. She's only comfortable sleeping on us which means my cleaning plans for today are slow going. So far Ive managed the bathroom. Poor girly.

DH and I are in the midst of discussing if I should go back to work after 6 months instead of taking the year off. I make more money and the hospital stops topping me up at 6 months. DH would then take the rest of the parental leave.

adouces06 sorry about the car! We are also in hand eating drool land.

First day back to work. Getting out the door was an s-show, especially with pouring rain, but we made it! I'm so frazzled with back to work logistics that I don't even miss DS2 yet. I mean I do, but so overwhelmed with work and such! Guess that's finally a good thing.

Side note: pumping is not fun. Much respect to the EP'ers

No idea. She's already such a daddy's girl that I'm worried about missing the bonding time I do get now. Plus that would leave DH solo for bedtimes and with DS being the way he is, that would be rough. Plus we'd get to do nothing over the summer. Yet we'd have every other weekend together (part timers are not allowed to be scheduled more than 2 weekends/month).

But on the other hand, I could go back to being a sane human being and plus money. I know he really is not digging his job right now so the break could be good for him.


And I flew solo with DS when he was 10 weeks old. Super easy when theyre that young ( I also did it when he was 6 months and 1.5 years). Like Hola said, baby wore through the airports, checked the carseat. Got a cart for everything to get through the airport. I had to have the bottles tested at every gate but not a huge deal. If you're bottle feeding, you are allowed to bring water to make formula and it's not included in the liquid limits. Flying with a toddler though is a whole different ball game...

Today is such a busy day. I took the girls to Story Time at the Library and came home to make AG her lunch. She is napping now and of course HL just woke up as AG fell asleep. The home nurse comes in 15 mins and I'm trying to finish my lunch while HL is fussing in the bouncer.

@holachica I'm sorry to hear about your Grandma. I hope you are able to see her. I was in the same situation a few years ago.

Started my first PP period exactly a week ago and still going strong. YAY. DH keeps asking when I'll be off my period but he doesn't seem to understand I have zero control and that things can be a little "off" for a while. He's asking b/c he wants to have sex. I'm not intentionally depriving him here, but he sure acts like I am.

@holachica I am sorry about your grandmother. I hope she is able to meet your boys. I went through something similar, right after DS2 was born, my grandmother passed away so she was only able to meet him once, but I was glad she got to meet him in any capacity.

Tell your DH that I had my first PP period for 21 days. 21 DAYS. Most of which I needed Super and Super Plus tampons every couple of hours. It sucked and if my DH complained about it, I would have throat punched him. And I will gladly come do that to yours if you like.

I need opinions. What color curtains should I get? See below for details.

DD1 is turning 10 in March. I'm trying to pull off a bedroom makeover surprise for her. We are not repainting her room because she loves the wall color, but she is sick of the "baby" butterfly theme and no longer wants any pink in her room. I already bought her this comforter set, along with a gray area rug, basically the same color as in the bedding photo. Someone I know is selling us a nice queen sized mattress that is only a few years old and in excellent shape (for only $40!), and we're going to get her a platform bed (so no need for a box spring/foundation). Anyway, seeing the color of her walls below and seeing the bedding and area rug color... should I go with white or gray curtains? Her wall color is a little more aqua/teal than it looks in the picture. I found some nice medium/dark gray blackout curtains on Amazon, but I'm not sure if I should do gray or stick with white.

My sister has those curtains in her living room. They are really nice. It is a relatively dark grey though. It might work though and would make the room more "grown up".

I just contacted the school to register DD for Kindergarten in September. Hold me. We're going to do the early French immersion program (I'm French). Because of the wrap-around care we'll need to cover half day kindergarten we're going to end up paying more for daycare than we did when she was going full time. DH and I just had fun crunching the numbers 😳.

I'm just catching up as I went back to work today myself. Of course, I work very PT so it's not as big of a deal to me as it is for some. I've been dying to go back and give my brain some exercise. Plus adult conversation. Hugs to those who need them.

Anyway, so yeah. First day back to work. It worked out well because H is on night call tonight, so he was able to be home with the boys since today is not a daycare day and DS2 doesn't have a spot until next Monday. I was so happy to be back. I had a pretty straightforward patient to recover, although I joked that I felt like I needed reorientation. One of the nurses from ICU came down and said it didn't even look like I had a baby 10 weeks ago. Bless her heart.

There's something wrong with H's truck (he's pretty sure he knows what it is but I don't mechanic so I can't describe it here), so we have to take it in Thursday morning. It should be covered under his service contract, thankfully.

@snuff9861 if I was off for as long as you guys get, I'd definitely need some buddy shifts. 11 weeks wasn't that bad. After 10 years of the same thing, it's like riding a bike.

It also helps that MH works in the same specialty as me. He usually fills me in when protocols change, since he's usually involved in writing the changes.

Thanks! We actually did have him evaluated by the school district right before G was born. The report didn't identify anything except for one possible indicator of ADHD. I may come over there once I figured out the next step.
