I've been stalking my own registry. Anyone else do this before a shower? My 2nd shower is sunday and there's seriously like 4 more things checked off that I didn't get from the first one or buy myself already. I'm not necessarily upset about it, maybe frustrated is the right word. I just have a feeling since its out were team pink for this shower and most of Hs family is very fashion oriented we're going to get a TON of clothes. Either that or MIL forgot to include the registry in her invites? I'm not sure. She said there's 40 people coming. This one is for Hs family because there was a wedding the same day as my first one. I will be grateful for whatever we get and whoever shows up, but I do not believe I will have any qualms exchanging clothes for stuff we need. I hope I don't sound like an asshole.

pibblemom I only got clothes for my shower with DS. Luckily many were in larger sizes so it wasn't just tiny newborn stuff.
It's actually super common around here to just give "fun" stuff instead of practical items. Kind of annoying in a way, but I didn't expect anything else
MissDemeanor, interesting. I've always purchased off people's registries. I think my MW was certainly right, she said staying team green leads to more practical things because neutral clothes are so hard. Unfortunately, we had to split showers and could only hold out so long

Literally every shower I've been to is also held after the baby is born. I guess it's a regional thing. So it's also assumed that by then the parents have everything they need?

Wow. I've literally never heard of that unless baby came early and unexpected! Amazing how things vary by location
pibblemom, there was just a thread on F17 asking the same thing. The consensus was pretty much that people do buy a lot of clothes (especially for girls) and off registry too over the practical. Big return-runs are common post-shower to exchange for stuff you actually need.
pibblemom I agree that people tend to get girls more clothes. It does kind of suck though. I made a small registry with useful things I legitimately need this time around and only the inlaws purchased some. I'm hoping I don't get overrun with pink clothes by the extended family.
pibblemom I found that people bought things off my registry so last minute. We were team green so it helped with not getting too many clothes.
peaseblossom55 it was really good! I liked that it was so different and the plot was good along with the music. I played the pregnancy card to get MH to see it.
