I love birth stories! Can't wait to read all of yours. Sorry if it's long, I wrote it for myself to remember.
Biscottino was a planned c-section for January 12, but I knew that date was never going to happen. My appointments had been moved over to the L & D at my hospital, not with my OB/GYN after my 36 weeks appointment because he thought it was be easier for L & D to change my c-section if needed, since it is their doctors who make the call. Baby had been measuring small since 32 weeks.
We arrived on the 3rd for another growth scan and the doctor told us he had fallen off the curve and it was better to take him out now than wait. She said she would check with the OR when there was availabilty, when she got back she said it would be the next day at 11am. I was an emotional wreck that day but also very happy to see our baby soon.
We arrived at the hospital at 730am, checked into our roomand waited. At exactly 11am a midwife came to take us down to the OR. I was again an emotional wreck, crying but calmed down when we got into the OR. I was prepped for the surgery, given the spinal block (which was far more uncomfortable than epidural that I had with DD's emergency c-section) and then H came into rhe room. Surgery started at about 10:40sh, the pediatrician was standing next to me, looking over the curtain and told us everything that happened. He said "Ok, here's the head" and immediately baby started crying. The midwife showed me the baby and then H and her went to weigh him, etc.
The pediatrician came to tell me he was perfectly healthy and then the surgery was finished. I was in the recovery room for about 3 hours because the spinal took a long time to wear off but H and the baby were with me.
We stayed in the hospital 4 days, going home this afternoon.
