I've read a few articles that recently came out regarding peanut allergies. Studies show that babies should consume peanuts early (as early as 4-6 months) and often to help lessen the risk of allergy. I'm on board with this. I'm curious about your thoughts. We introduced peanut butter to DS1 before his 1st birthday (maybe 9-10 months), but I'm thinking about doing it even earlier with E. But I'm not sure how to give peanuts this young. Obviously an actual peanut is a choking hazard and so is a glob of peanut butter. Maybe a small lick of peanut butter? I don't know.
Maybe on a piece of toast strip to gum on? I did some research in university also re: underactive immine sys causing allergies to develop. Flint will get lots of opportunities to eat dirt lol

I think it's really interesting how the recommendations have changed so much from when L was little. I am on board with it even though I am super paranoid about allergies. I would probably mix a bit of PB with some rice cereal or oatmeal and blend until smooth. You could also do toast strips or make PB waffle strips.
Since L had allergies to eggs when he was little we will be steering clear of them until at least 1 year. I think I am ready to test dairy by eating it and looking for a reaction soon.
There's no history in either family and we intro'd with dd pretty early. I think I'll probably give DS some pb on toast the morning of his 6 month appointment.

Yeah I wonder what stuff we do now that our kids will be shocked by when they have kids of their own. Pretty sure my parents didn't do most of the stuff I do today.

I gave pb to DD around 9 months. I will probably give it to DS in a few weeks although realistically he has probably been somewhat exposed already. Big sis loves peanut butter and her brother. I think he has probably gotten some pb from her sticky hands or face when she is hugging and kissing him.
Our pediatrician told us the same thing, give Sam PB as soon as we start giving solids. She recommended taking a little on our finger and swiping it along his gums so that's what we'll do. I think I'll wait to do it until right before his 6 month appointment, so that if he has an allergic reaction we'll be right there.

A has gotten his first few tastes of PB. So far his favorite way was when I mixed a small amount in his oatmeal and some mashed bananas. Love the waffle idea. One of my favorite breakfasts as a kid was a waffle, PB & sliced bananas, then cut into triangles, like a pizza. That's how my mom sold it to me anyway. Pizza for breakfast!
