I think we are taking a little trip to the P hilly area this summer. (Sesame place and the please touch museum) we would be staying in the Langhorne area. Google tells me Spring Lake is the closest beach. I've never heard of it. Would it be a good beach for a day trip with kids? We would be going on a week day and I like a non - commercial beach.

I'm sorry I don't know anything about spring lake. I have been to quite a few jersey beaches but not that one. Major jealousy that you are going to Sesame and please touch. We want to take G there this summer but don't have any solid plans yet.

We've been to Sesame place twice. The last time we went, we also went to please touch (2014). The girls we nuts for it! They beg to go back all the time. They still talk about it. Really puts our local children's museum To shame. Dd will be 8 in May so I figure this will probably be our last chance to do both of those things before she ages out
Spring lake is really nice! It's like a private beach that's one of NJ's secrets. That would be perfect. Another recommendation I would make is Avon by the sea. I live close to langhorne and that's where we go. It's not crowded, quiet, and has nice clean bathrooms.
I am now a season pass holder at sesame place haha and only went once over thanksgiving weekend and it was super crowded but the majority of the place is a water park so that was all closed. In the summer I plan to go in the morning and maximize my time!

Awesome! Thank you! So you pay a fee at Jersey beaches?
We've been to Sesame during the week and it's a pretty manageable crowd. Their water park is really perfect for the 7 and under crowd!
Some beaches require beach badges either day or seasonal. Avon does, I think adults are $10 a day and no idea about kids.... Not sure we paid for our son last summer at all. Spring lake I don't go to regularly so I'm not positive but if anything it's just a day pass badge you will need. I kind of think they don't require them there. Avon just has street parking and it's all free, they have a non commercial boardwalk with just one tiny little snack bar thing to get food and snacks but we always bring a cooler of drinks and food onto the beach. Both beaches are super relaxed. Just please be sure to only swim where the lifeguards are and in between the flags!! There are drownings every summer at all the beaches for people that just decide to swim somewhere else.
