What are you reading? Listening to Lock and Key by Sarah Deaden YA romance I think
So you have a goal this year? Not officially but 40ish I hope for the year
Genre(S) of choice? Historical fiction, although romance has been my go to recently since they tend to be light and my brain needs light and fluffy
All time favorite book? Great Expectations by Dickens so many other to put here but this is always always always on the list
Favorite last year? Probably The Storied Life of AJ fickery
A popular book you didn't like? Gone Girl, I couldn't even love to hate the characters

I really geek out trying to find the perfect fit for a person, so my recommendations often very because it depends on who is asking and what they like.

Room was actually much easier to read than I thought it would be. It's written from the perspective of a child, so it's kinda light and innocent in that regard. Now The Glass Castle on the other hand... I've also heard Let's Talk About Kevin is also very challenging and similar social issues.

So you have a goal this year? I picked a measly 10 books, though usually I'm in the 30's

Genre(S) of choice? Young Adult, children's, historical romance

All time favorite book? Persuasion by Jane Austen or The Bride by Julie Garwood

Favorite last year? Trials of Apollo: The Hidden Oracle (but I miss Percy Jackson) next on is out in May!?!

A popular book you didn't like? Maze Runner series

Go to recommendations? I used to work at a book store so that depends on genre!

What are you reading? I'm waiting (#1 on wait list) for All the Light We Cannot See. It's my new book club's book this month.

So you have a goal this year? I'd like to read one a month, but ideally 2. Book clubs should help. I have one with mom's club (not into their book for this month so not reading) and one through a friend of DH.

Genre(S) of choice? Chick-lit, historical fiction, YA

All time favorite book? Ooo, that's hard. I love Pride and Predudice. I also really love Mama Makes Up Her Mind by Bailey White.

Favorite last year? The Last Anniversary by Liane Moriarty

I wouldn't say it was a bad book. I've definitely read worse books. But it felt repetitive and at times obnoxious. She rambles on about nothing very exciting in many chapters. I guess I didn't exactly like her. It makes it hard to like a book when you're not crazy about the main character.

To be honest, I've tried reading Paper Towns and An Abundance of Katherines and didn't like them either. I might just not like John Green's style.

I am not his biggest fan of his. TFiOS got me but I can't get into any of his either stuff.

All time favorite book? I have a really hard time committing here. It changes all the time. Two that have sat at the top a lot are A Prayer for Owen Meany and Pride and Prejudice
Favorite last year? 100 year Old Man Who Crawled out the Window
A popular book you didn't like? I can't think of anything off hand. I'll come back if one comes to me.

Go to recommendations? New York by E Rutherford, Red Tent, Book of Negroes (it's called something else in the US, I can't remember what).

Do you have a goal this year? I used to read so much, but now even one book a month would be nice.

Genre(S) of choice? Contemporary fiction.

All time favorite book? One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

Favorite last year? I have to think about this one. I feel like I read a lot of crappy, mindless fiction last year.

A popular book you didn't like? Lemony Snicket, A Series of Unfortunate Events (though I just started watching the Netflix show, and I like it so far--it's very different from the books). I also didn't get very far with Game of Thrones (the books or the show).

Go to recommendations? The Elena Ferrante books, anything by Chang Rae Lee, the Harry Potter books (of course).

grapefruits I read the Elena Ferrante series this year. So although I found the plot interesting enough to get through all four, and I appreciated a few of the characters, I just didn't love it. I think I missed the great appeal with this series. What did you love about it?? I think this series is something I could have a completely different view of following a book club discussion to get a different perspective. Please share with me what I was missing!

I used to have a fantastic book club and the best part was when you went in having one view of a book and left with a completely different appreciation. I need to find another book club like this.

What are you reading? Deborah Harkness - Shadow of Night (All Souls Trilogy)
So you have a goal this year? No goals, I use to read a ton! I just started back reading, it's a bit harder with a newborn. I use to read on my lunch break at work.
Genre(S) of choice? Urban Fantasy, Fantasy, Sci Fi, Period pieces; I love vampires, witches, werewolves, etc. Reading has always been escapism for me.
All time favorite book? Geeze this is a hard one... I have favorite series but not 1 book. See recs below.
