How do y'all feel about starting up a middle of the night thread? This was so helpful to me with DD to have other people going through the same things at the same exact times!
I'm up bc life is cruel - H is snoring away and DD is peacefully sleeping. I've been up about 2 hours bc my hips and this damn hemorrhoid from hell is killing me. Might go soak in a warm sitz bath to see if that helps!
DS will be here in approx 29ish hours or less and I'm an emotional wreck!!
I also have a bit of a head cold so I'm concerned it's affecting my supply. ☹️
DSs latch is alright, but if he gets lazy he just sort of clamps down and sucks on my nipple and I can tell he's not transferring anything because he's not swallowing. Ugh.
We have our newborn photo shoot in the morning and I'm going to look like a zombie.
Not looking forward to the logistics of getting a toddler and newborn all dressed up and out the door on time. To make matters worse, DD was supposed to have a bath last night and DH screwed up while filling the tub and didn't close the drain all the way. By the time I finished feeding DS and got up to give DD her bath, the tub was full of cold water because all the hot water ran down the drain. Cue rage.

For the last month or so I've been unable to sleep at night, and have been fairly okay with it as I usually lay in bed and watch DD sleep. I have a feeling that when I'm up with a NB, I won't be as peaceful and calm
Ugh, sorry you're so uncomfortable and missing out on precious sleep already geauxtigers79.
Right now my plan is to do what I did with DS1 and transition to combination feeding by the time I go back to work in April (formula bottles from DC, BF at home). Pumping at work just wouldn't work for me abs this worked well last time. If however BF doesn't improve after we fix LOs tongue tie then I'm good with making an earlier transition to FF. And EFF if needed.
ellabee, good luck getting ready for your shootc tomorrow. I'm going to give the 2 kid a in the morning thing another try on Wednesday and am hoping for an improvement over last weeks disaster!

I'm worried because my boobs haven't felt engirged or full. It's making me paranoid that I have supply or milk production issues. I know my milk has come in because I've seen it. Is it normal for my boobs to be on the softer "not so full feeling" side? Sorry if a noob question. I am basically a BF rookie. I just expected them to feel big and full once my milk came in and it's just not the case.

Mine have been feeling softer not as full lately but I'm almost 3 weeks pp and I think that's normal. You are pumping right? I would think that you should have an idea of if you are producing based on what you pump. Sorry I don't really have a great answer to your question.
I'm planning to BF again but if we need to supplement with formula this time I'm not stressing about it. I couldn't pump enough when I went back to work and at the point my stash ran out DS refused to take formula and it was stressful. He was old enough to eat solids so we made do but I just don't want to be fretting about my supply again.

vlagroupie, I pump immediately after each nursing session. I don't get much, maybe 5 ml total. I signed up for. BF support group but it doesn't meet until next week. I plan on asking nurses and DR at DS2's first pedi appt tomorrow

I'm so tired. Yesterday was exhausting and I wasn't expecting it to be. We did our newborn pictures in the morning and by the time we got home after lunch, I felt dead. Lucky for me, both boys needed naps and it only took about 45 minutes to get both of them asleep and then we so slept for 3 hours. It was perfect. Except then we had to go back out to do the family portion of pictures and our quick stop by my IL's house afterward took FOREVER.
And now I feel like death and dying as I nurse. I'm so tired.
heybulldog56, I've not felt engorged either but LO is getting what he wants based on weight gain and number of wet/dirty diapers. So long as you're getting enough pee and poop you should be good!
Just now seeing this but you can bet I'll be here tonight! DS cluster fed until 5 giving me 50 minute naps in between. I finally got a long stretch from him for about 2.5 hours, but he woke up twice during and I had to soothe him back to sleep. Sufficed to say, I didn't get a lot of sleep. Still hoping for a small stretch since dd doesn't usually wake up until 9:30.
Re:formula I fought low supply with dd and started supplementing with formula around 8 weeks and went completely diff by 3 months. This little guy seems to be doing better with nursing but I will not hesitate to add formula if he needs it. I already decided that even if bf works out this time I might add in a formula bottle around 3 months to give myself a break and an opportunity to be away from him for more than a couple hours if needed. I have never let down for a pump so that isn't an option.

Like pp said just keep an eye out for wets and dirty diapers. I'm sure you'll get some answers from your dr. Everyone says this but the first couple weeks are really the hardest. It's true tho, since we are almost 3 weeks into bf'ing relationship it has def been getting easier than the first week or 2. Now I just need this kid to stop being so gassy/fussy and sleep longer than a couple hours at a time!
Also have a question - is anyone else formula feeding or planning to FF? Or am I the lone wolf with that one?
Hi, I'm here with you! I didn't BF with DS for a few reasons, and with this one, I'm not out of pure anxiety. It's been going well, and DH has been helping out a ton. I'm up doing my feeding, hi guys!
This is me exactly. I had complications after birth with DD and BF just never worked out for us. This time I've just decided that the anxiety isn't worth what I put myself through last time. DS will be EFF from day 1.
So far tonight we have had 35, 33, and 26 minute stretches. This does not bode well.
Oh no
Yeah it's not really getting any better. And it's not just that he's not sleeping, it's that he is screaming and not sleeping. I'm so ready for mh to have a night off so I can get a break, and some sleep.

Ugh, do you think it's colic? Gas?
I think it's gas. I've been giving him gas drops with every feed but he just seems uncomfortable. I feel really bad for him. I just wish mh was home so I could hand him off for an hour or so. Every time I get him to sleep and lay him down and crawl into bed he is screaming within minutes.

Mine has been super gassy. I've been doing the gas drops and gripe water. I finally decided to order Windi on a recommendation, never been so excited to try something like that lol.

I forgot about the windi, I never had one for dd but I've heard good things. I think Amazon prime is going to get some of my money tonight!
ETA I'm sorry you are dealing with gas too. It's so hard to see them so uncomfortable.

meeggaannww, I how you get some relief soon. That's awful.
I could have punched H before I went to bed tonight. I asked if he'd come and relax in bed tonight instead of playing his video game and he told me how he never gets to play anymore (bullshit) so no but if I wanted to, I could always stay out there and fall asleep in the glider. I was only half joking when I told him that of I could sleep in the glider, he could sleep on the couch. He had the nerve to be offended. So, I just went to bed and like, 10 minutes later he comes in after finishing his game and asks if I still want him to come hang out in bed. Um, no.
