TTMA about babies being sick this young. DD had a cold last week, runny nose with green snot but no fever. DS also had a cold so I figured he gave it to her. Now DD has a wet cough, but no runny nose and no fever. Today she was crabby and hasnt eaten as much as she normally does. But still pooped and wetting the appropriate amount of diapers. The cough is what concerns me. What say O'16?
We just had this. The nurse said if she was sleeping and eating fine and not vomiting from coughing and no fever, it was ok.
ETA- oh and also that breathing was not labored or fast or causing pulling at ribs

My little has been exactly this since Monday. He's eating maybe half of what he normally does, if that. Yesterday, he slept the vast majority of the day, but was easy to wake and when he was awake he was fine, just tired easily. I haven't called, but +1 to what wahooMOM13 said.
I also have listened to his lungs multiple times. No expiratory wheezes, so all that junky cough business is just upper airway congestion from his nose.

+1 to listening to lungs. I also only hear it in the upper airways though occasionally she has an expiratory wheeze

Those with sick babies...I'd at least get them checked for an ear infection, especially if they are having trouble sleeping (I haven't seen that mentioned but just in case). DD is pretty snotty right now also ever since starting daycare but she is eating and sleeping fine so I haven't felt the need to take her in yet.

On day 3 of cold symptoms without a fever, even if DS2 had fluid behind his ear drum, my pedi likely wouldn't treat. Viral ear infections are pretty common and will resolve on their own.
There are a lot of pediatricians who would treat though. I personally feel like antibiotics are very over prescribed (in general, but especially in the pediatric population) and we happen to have a pediatrician who agrees.
But also, don't listen to me. MH and I are totally that meme you see on FB that's like "Sorry darling, mommy's a nurse, so we only go to the doctor when we're dying" and probably wait on the side of too long before taking our kids in. So.

But does the wheeze go away when she coughs? If it does, then it's caused by congestion and not inflammation. KWIM?

Same. I also dont allow treatment with abx for ear infections, especially if they have cold symptoms because 99.9% of the time it's viral and will go away.
