N and I had a nice morning out. He napped in the car and then really started acting up. He fell asleep at 5:30, then puked all over the couch. So he can't go to school tomorrow, and I don't know if I'll bring G. I nearly had a panic attack when he got sick. I go back to work in 2 days, and now we start getting sick.
smallpotato ugh. The worst. FX it was a flukey, one time puke?
So DS1 crapped his pants at daycare today. 🙄 Only mildly annoying. DS2 had a "good" day, but they said he did cough a lot and he didn't sleep much per his daily sheet. He ate one good bottle this morning and then about half of what he normally takes the rest of the day. Tonight while I was making dinner, he had a coughing fit that left him breathless and then he puked all over himself. He'll cough a couples times and then do this grunty moan at the end. He now has a low grade temp too. I think I'm going to call the pediatrician tomorrow and see if someone can put eyes on him. We're supposed to go out of town this weekend and I think it would be wise for him to be seen before we decide to go.
becole how are the bottles going for you guys? O has refused the last two days at daycare. I had to leave and feed her at lunch yesterday (took me 45 minutes and I only get a 25 minute lunch). Today she's taken an ounce but DH is driving her to me to feed in a few minutes. I hope things are going better for you!
I called my work and told them what was going on and they are working with me. Basically this is my last week of leave and every day I'm taking him in for them to try a bottle. He takes one ounce. That's it. I went to an LC who gave me some exercises to do with him because he's very gaggy and doesn't want anything touching his soft palate. She also showed me how to latch him deeper to de sensitize him. The good news is that his LT and TT that were cut are fully functional and not part of the problem. She also suggested cup training or using a syringe to feed. I will probably take off next week to continue working on it and then he's just going to have to figure it out. He was up 4 times last night I think in protest.
Sorry just getting back to respond. That is great your work is working with you. That's interesting about a deeper latch because O is gaggy too. I'll have to look into that. She also took one ounce and that was all today (plus me feeding her at lunch).
I just wish she was ready for solids so she could get those during the day too, but I'm not going to rush that.

ETA: O nursed all night also to make up for it.
Make sure baby is lined up belly to belly, pull down on baby's chin and pull baby closer towards you at his shoulder. You should see the ears moving if the latch is deep enough. Also, take your finger and drawn a rainbow in the mouth from front to back. Sweep quickly across the back. Do that 3 times/ day until they stop gagging when you get to the back. If it's a TT- baby may not be able to latch to the bottle to suck. She also suggested a fast flow bottle.

N threw up 2 more times, but has been good for over an hour now. Poor little guy was apologizing to MH for getting sick. This is only the third time he has had puking episodes; the other two were both food poisoning. I know that's not it this time because we ate very similar things for lunch and I feel fine physically. Emotionally is a completely different story. We're doing what we can to keep him away from G. MH also wiped down all the doorknobs and G's playmat with Lysol wipes. I wish I could just spray my entire house with Lysol all at once.
britta Sorry LO is getting worse. I agree it sounds like a trip in to the Pedi seems worth it. DD was up every 2.5-3 hours eating. I dont know if she's growth spurting or if she was making up for Tuesday. She's still pretty congested, but right now I've got her sleeping in her swing and I can't hear her. So maybe it will be swing naps and bedtime until this passes.
