Oh, and weekend plans... I'm getting my hair did tomorrow and then we have a 3rd birthday party to go to at Kids First. It should be fun for DD (and me because cake).
I was thinking last night but didn't get on to post... How is your dad doing mrscatfarmer13?
I wanted to name the thread fearful friday, because, well... DT. But I didn't wanna bring the whole thing down. Is anyone going to watch?
It took me a minute to figure out DT wasn't Daniel Tiger. I was hella confused about why you were fearful of Mr. Roger's neighborhood.
RE: my dad I don't really have an update to tell. He does chemo and radiation 5x a week. Due to the tumor feeders being present in his spinal fluid they decided to install a port so they can give him a medication that will prevent new blood vessels (healthy or not) from growing. This is important because his tumor sends out signals (feeders) to find blood vessels to feed on and encourage more blood vessels to grow.

Will not be watching any of the days events. I always watch world news at 6:30PM, but I think I might skip that today also. I mean, unless something insane happens, which I'm sure I'll found out about anyway, I don't expect to see anything mildly interesting if I were to tune in.
Weekend plans include cleaning and laundry. Wild life over here.

Is he staying positive?
It's weird and hard to tell. He's extremely tired a lot of the time and that kind of puts him in a zombie state. For example, last night he wasn't feeling well and he was watching tv when I went over. I was standing right in front of him telling him something and it was almost like he couldn't even see or hear me talking to him. I had to say something 3-4x before he even acknowledged me, but as soon as it triggered that I was talking to him he perked up and seemed more his old personality. I know you meant well, but I probably won't talk about it anymore right now because I'm at work and emoshuns.
Because DS failed his newborn hearing screen in one ear, I have to redo a test today. I showed up Wednesday but it's today. They can't do the test unless he's asleep for 15 minutes because apparently they suck ass. So they have a two hour window to try and I have to bring him hungry and tired. Again. And try to keep him from falling asleep in the car on the way. By myself.

I'm a news junkie. I always watched the world news in the evening, but have been trying to cut back recently. I never thought the boys paid attention to it until just before Christmas. Trump was on the screen and DS1 points and goes, "that's Donald Trump." Full name, no joke! Then says, "do you like Donald Trump, mommy?" I was so caught off guard I just replied, "do you?" He goes, "no, DS2 and I don't like him. Do you like him?" I finally said, "well, you know I really like it when people are nice to everyone. He isn't nice to everyone. Mommy wishes he would be."
Can't say I enjoyed having a semi political discussion with a two year old and really don't want to make it a regular thing. I miss my nightly news though. 😔

Huh? All of that sounds odd. Why does he have to be asleep? Maybe drive with the windows open on the way there? See if the breeze keeps him awake. What a crappy day, so sorry.

That's... something. I would have been in disbelief if my kid could put just three words together though.
I'm kinda a junkie too. DH hates it, but I watch all the news shows.

Who has tricks to get their kid to clean up? This girl is terrible with it. She will dump a whole basket of toys out and not pick it up when I ask. I know it's typical toddler behavior, but does anyone have any magical tricks? I've tried to make it fun or sing the clean up song but she just stalls and stalls. It takes 40 min to clean up one basket of toys. #overit

I guess the test measures brain waves. They have to be asleep. If it doesn't work, I go back at 6 months when he can magically do some awake version of the test. Children's too.

No tricks. If I help him he gets into it and we're done in 10 min. If I want him to do it, it can take an hour of constantly repeating myself.
sstwinklinglites how is A's speech? Are you still doing EI/speech therapy?
He's doing much better but we're not really getting sentences yet. He's still in EI. He ages out at age three, so we have a pre - school interview next Friday in hopes that he will make it into the preschool based on his delay (they will write up an IFP for him and preschool would be no charge to us if that's the case). I'm not overly concerned, I see clear improvements, but it's been really slow getting there.

babylove518 I'm not above bribery. I have no idea if it makes a difference but I try to watch how I phrase bribes. Instead of saying, "If you pickup XYZ, you can have some choc. chips" I'll say, "Do you want some cho. chips? Ok, so let's clean up xyz and then we can get some"
Bargaining works for us too. Yesterday M took everything out of my purse looking for a hot wheel while I got a massage. He didn't want to put it all back so I told him if he will pick up a few things, I'll help with the rest.
I had one more thing to suggest, but forgot it in the process of typing.

That's good. I know some kids really take off once they're in a classroom type setting and hear other children talking daily. Hopefully they accept him.

This is how the twins were. Once they started preschool it was an instant improvement. Peer pressure, lol
I see a big onset of skills when DS moves up room. It's like he sees someone doing something and then figures it out. He just never thought to do it before and they give him the idea.
babylove518 I was having the same trouble with W yesterday and was about to lose it. He tore the whole playroom apart in about 5 minutes and wouldn't help with most of it. I did manage to get him to help clean the ball pit balls up by playing basketball, but it went downhill from there quickly. I do try to use specific language because even for older kiddos "clean up" can be overwhelming. "Put the balls in the bag. Who can do the most while I count to 10?" "I spy 3 instruments, who can find them and put them on the tray?" Definitely more effective sometimes than others. Yesterday I got "I hiding. I too tired. Can't find me. I don't want to." Yeah, kid. Same here, except I'm not the one that went destructo in here, so you're going to have to help out. Singing the song = them singing and dancing while I actually clean. Right now, Z is in a golden age where he generally likes to help, so I praise him a lot and tell him what a big boy he is, but that doesn't seem to be a motivator for the other one.

Has anybody here used Walmart to have their tires changed? DH car is at the mechanic for the upteenth time. We trust this mechanic and feel the pricing is more than fair. We are taking a huge hit to our savings fixing his car though. Yes, A LOT is being done, and I'm hopeful nothing else comes up in a longgg time, but our mechanic doesn't do tires, and he needs two new tires. I'm trying to find any way to save at this point.
