Sorry I went MIA. I wasn't really on my phone much Friday or yesterday to put an update.
DD was born via c section at 8:07am on Friday. The procedure was amazingly easy and I would do that again any day over my DS traumatic birth. It was kind of fun since the drs were playing music and joking. As they predicted there was a LOT of fluid and I felt instant relief the second she was out. They said "Oh you will probably feel a lot of pressure like you can't breathe, but count to 20 and it will be gone." Nope, not one bit of pressure. It was the total opposite...it was like they removed all the pressure from my insides that was ruining my life for the last 3 weeks.
DD is nursing like a champ, but won't sleep unless she's on my boob. I'm not into cosleeping because I'm terrified I'll hurt her, so we need to figure something out. I have a feeling DH and I will be taking lots of shifts at home and he'll be dealing with a screaming kid because he doesn't have the boobs.
Recovery is going well with only Motrin. I've avoided Percocet becuse they make me nauseous. But, I have a cough and that hurts like bitch on my incision area. That's really my only pain. Oh and when I take the slowest walks around the maternity ward I get sore. But, I'm hoping it gets better each day.
Congrats! I didn't need stronger meds until two days after surgery because I had been moving more. But they gave me oxycontin instead of percoset.
Glad baby is nursing well. Hope you can figure out a sleeping arrangement.
Any tips for heading home with the 2.5 year old?
-Toddler, your new baby has been so excited to come home and see you! Do you want to hold baby? -Dedicated mommy/toddler time. Dedicated daddy/toddler time. -As toddler if baby is invited to share bedtime. Respect toddler wishes if they don't want baby there. -baby gift to toddler (our baby gave our toddler a Curious George stuffy) -Remind toddler that their toys are theirs, and baby can't play with toys yet. But maybe take the opportunity to go through toddlers old toys and ask if they'd like to give any to baby for when baby is ready to play -Let toddler pick out baby's outfits, swaddle blankets, burp cloths

My parents are here to help! But DS is mostly ignoring the baby at this point. Have DH be on toddler duty is my best advice. In my case I have three possible diaper changers and book readers.
Try to keep their schedule as normal as possible.
We're letting baby sleep in the living room during the day despite the toddler noise. It'll help her figure out days/nights and teach her to sleep through the usual activity level.

This. And trying really hard to let DS1 play and make noise as usual (only asking him not to shout/scream) even if it risks waking baby. Also, one great bit I'd advice I got that's actually helped a lot - if you're playing with the toddler and baby cries try not to drop everything immediately. Just saying "It's DS1's turn right now I'll be with you in a minute" has made DS1 much more settled.
