for LO. Do any of you have LO on a multivitamin yet? What kind? I'm trying to decide if C should be taking them yet. STMs, any experience on this? What age did you start them? Is he too young still? (I was thinking a gummy style.)
The only vitamin supplement my dr has ever recommended my kids (and all of us) be on is vitamin D, which I started around 2 or so for DS. I'll start DD around then too.
ETA-this has to do with location too-we are too far north we don't benefit from vitiman D from sunlight for half the year.

We asked our pediatrician at his last well visit, and the doctor said as long as we keep offering a well balanced diet, and he's growing and developing properly (which so far, so good), we shouldn't worry about giving them, but there's also no harm in giving him an age appropriate one. So we're doing the poly-vi-sol right now through the winter months at least since I figure it can't hurt.
Sooo...Z eats a well rounded diet, including cheese and yogurt, but whole milk upsets his stomach. Our former ped said that coconut milk would be ok since he is such a good water. We just switched offices because of insurance changes and this one was concerned about his calcium intake and recommended a multivitamin. She didn't specify, so I just got gummy Flintstone vitamins. Having the chewables with iron in the house makes me nervous.
I have been giving LO a gummy multivitamin because he goes nuts when he sees DD take hers. However, I only give him 1/2 of the recommended dose since he is under 2.

Did you try lower fat milks with Z? Whole milk makes O break out in hives but he can drink 2% easily and now we're down to 1% because he's a very healthy kiddo.

My friend who is a PA just recommended that so we are going to give it a try!

You may just want to double check the label- most gummy vitamins don't contain any calcium. I haven't checked that specific brand though.

I actually couldn't find any vitamins that specifically said "calcium," but I was looking at a limited selection at Sam's Club. It said something pertaining to calcium, but I can't remember exactly what...
Thanks for all the info ladies! I haven't actually bought any yet (which sounds like it might be a good thing.) I didn't even think to bring it up at Cs 18 month ped appointment (and might just hold off until he is 2 and see what is recommended) Sadly, C is one of the picky eaters in the group. He eats plenty of cheese and loves his milk, veggies are a big no unless they come in pouch form. Oh and he's not a huge meat eater. Maybe next time I'm at the store I'll at least look and see what they have that might be age appropriate for him now vs in a few months when he turns 2.
