The big downside to DS's new room is that it's on the road side of the house. It's probably too early to tell if that's what has made him wake up so early the last few days, but I'm guessing the sound of the milk tanker truck blasting by didn't help. New wakeup time of 6:30? Sad mommy. I like my alone time in the morning. (I know this is actually not early, but I'm so used to 7:30.... I'm spoiled.)
We need to hit up Joanns and Michaels today at some point but I'm not looking forward to it. I just want to stay home. Story of my life I also need to call the vet and make appointments for all my cats. Goodbye monies.
But it's FRIDAY! I'm way too excited for that because it means nothing, but there's just something about Friday that makes everything tolerable

Happy Friday been up basically all night and donuts sound so good. Full day of meetings and then have to take my dog to the vet, he's old and had some issues pop up this week, kinda nervous what they are gonna tell me.

I wake up multiple times per night willing my body to go into labor. But no dice.
I confess that I've been eating super unhealthy this week and I just don't care. I'm the size of a wooly mammoth. Tasty food and snuggles are all I have in this world.
TGIF. This week has DRAGGED by. Come on baby. It's almost time for your eviction!
I'm maybe meeting my sub. And I'm definitely wearing jeans on a non-jeans day. Pants are a problem, and I'll tell that sad story to anyone who complains.

I got about 4 hours of interrupted sleep so I'm exhausted. I hope work flies by since I have a deadline. On the other hand, ugh, deadline.
I think my nesting phase has started. I did a ton of laundry and spent hours opening and going through baby's things last night. I'm pretty sure I won't go into labor until my house is in order, so I'm getting going on that since I don't want to be pregnant forever.

I got a call from the hospital about participating in a clinical trial of an elective induction at 39 weeks. If I participated, I'd have a 50% chance of getting the induction. I said no thanks since I wanted to try for a low-intervention birth. But now it's in my mind that I could have been guaranteed a baby in 2.5 weeks.
I'm convinced I'm going to go over 41 weeks. I think baby's comfortable in there. I don't like the not knowing!

notagoddess - I don't like the not knowing either! I'm too much of a planner for my own good.
I have my OB appt. in an hour followed by my favorite coffee shop where I will come up with a list of stuff to pack for the hospital and write out more thank you notes.

So I just got off the phone with my student loan processor. I requested a forbearance on my student loans while I'm on maternity leave.
I figure less money coming in, less money going out. Every little bit helps.
Apparently this is a common request... just wasn't one I ever considered until we started going through our budget and I was asking myself what I could cut while I was on unpaid leave.
Post by oldbaylover1024 on Jan 27, 2017 9:27:47 GMT -5
loves2shop4shoes - That's great! I may have to consider this. Our student loan bills are, oh, let's just say a significant part of our monthly expenses.
flyinghorses6 - MH made coffee this morning before he left and, I have to admit, I was sad. I wanted an excuse to grab coffee and a Danish/donut on the way to work. Black homemade coffee and oatmeal it was. Womp womp
crazycatlady6 - I really need to throw a bag together, too. But... lazy LOL
notagoddess - My delivery with J was part of a teaching experience from some nursing students. Those poor students saw so many non-typical things! Maybe it was good for them. IDK. But I don't blame you for not taking the early induction. FWIW my OB let me go to 41w2d with J; 42 weeks was their max (I had an induction scheduled 3x, but at each pre-induction appointment showed no signs of going into labor so they delayed it). Was I miserable? Oh God yes LOL. Was I glad I gave her the time to bake? Yes.
AFM, I'm at work. I considered WFH today, but since I only have ten days of in office time left (including today) I figured I better show face.
MIL graciously and completely understood missing Nephew's party this weekend, so we're off the hook! I'm so glad. MH was kind of freaking out about going. I was comfortable saying 'no' but he has all the guilt. Glad it's off our plate!
J was talking to my belly this morning. She said, "Baby Brother, doesn't Mommy look beautiful this morning?" Be still my heart!

Found out our hospital offers a romantic dinner for two on Valentine's Day. I think it is hilarious that is a selling point. If I end up being induced I'm scheduled for the 14th, who knows, maybe we will have to opt for the hospital steak dinner. Haha!
Aside from that chill day here. Might run some errands with DS and double check we have what we need.

oldbaylover1024, you should totally look into it. Student loans aren't a huge monthly expense for us, but it all adds up. Since we'll be working with less money for most of my maternity leave, avoiding unnecessary bills was needed.
My hospital bag has been packed and in the car for a while, but I keep thinking about things I should add. Do you guys think I should add pacifiers? How about my breast pump? I was debating whether I should ask a LC to show me how to use it...

My nesting and cleaning alll the things over did it for me yesterday. I was timing ctx at 3-5 minutes apart at various times last night. I couldn't wake myself up enough to call my midwife, but couldn't fall asleep either. Thankfully they went away at some point and I'm still pregnant this morning.
THEN DS1 decided that 4 am was wake up and scream time. So that was lovely.
Today is H's last day on 2nd shift. He'll go to 1st on Monday. I'm not looking forward to the routine change, but 1st is better for us overall.

I packed one pacifier because my hospital (and I think yours too IIRC from the tour) doesn't have them. So if I want it, I have to bring it. It's small.
They have breast pumps at the hospital so I'd give them a call and ask if they have your pump there already. Then they could show you how to use it on their equipment and you save space! If not, then they can tell you if you should bring it or not.
Morning! I'm working until 1:30 and then I'm outie here! Headed to H's work, then we're going out of state for a concert. This baby better behave today! We have meet and greet passes for after the concert and then I'm sleeping the entire way home. If we need to we'll stop somewhere for the night and continue on in the morning, but that all depends on how tired H is. He slept last night (glad one of us did) but we don't know what time we'll be done with the meet and greet.

loves2shop4shoes - I deferred my loans for almost three years while I got my masters, so I think MH would totally side-eye me for deferring again. He's pretty determined to get those loans paid off. Understandably so. He has about $25K less in debt than I do so... perspective LOL? Now I know what we'll be talking about after J goes to bed tonight!
And I would drop a pacifier in your bag - it's small. Our hospital offers them, so we aren't taking one.
And a LC should be able to help you learn your pump after delivery, like when you're home. Plus, they're pretty user-friendly. A YouTube video and the included instructions may suffice. I wouldn't want to bring it the hospital with me since the hospital should be able to give you one for temporary use. TETO though. I DNW to lug that thing around any more than necessary.

notagoddess will your OB let you go past 41 weeks? I know some will not.
The induction thing sounds interesting though!
He will let me go till 42 weeks but he says typically an induction is scheduled after 41 weeks. I really hope I don't have to wait that long! I'm so eager to meet this little girl

loves2shop4shoes - that's not a bad idea regarding student loans. Will run that past DH tonight.
Apparently little guy is enjoying his surroundings and shows no sign of making an appearance soon but I can still go at any point. My chart is at the hospital and I'm already preregistered, shit is even more real now.
Post by flyinghorses6 on Jan 27, 2017 10:31:48 GMT -5
loves2shop4shoes yes to the pacifier!!! Even if just for the ride home. And I'd say no to your pump--but only because I know my hospital has a hospital grade pump in all the rooms and it is awesome. I used it when I started back to work and I never brought my pump from home.

I just came back from a chilly quick stroll with K, DH, and the pups and the pressure is unreal. It feels like a boulder is sitting in my crotch/butt. But like do I just have to poop? So uncomfortable.

I went to 41w3d with DD1. Most doctors I've met don't get excited until 42 weeks. My first OB actually said that natural gestation for a human is considered 38-42 weeks which is why they say 40 weeks but the outliers are also normal which is why they wouldn't get excited. Then of course my 1st kid didn't want to come for hell or high water. She's also the reason I don't want to be induced because when her birth led to my being induced (which failed) the experience was so painful I'm afraid that would happen again where DD2s labor was so chill and easy on me.
On that note, DH is weirdly pushing me for induction. I keep telling him no, I don't want one, and plus we have a midwife this time. Pretty sure they are all about the more "natural" route. I think it's because he's slotted for deployment this summer and wants as many weeks off before as he can get before. I wouldn't mind baby coming any time, my sciatic nerve is getting in on the game now. I could barely walk for the last half of yesterday and last night was awful. We'll see how today goes but I still don't want to be induced.

RE: inductions
From a nurses perspective inductions are the worst. Especially when the woman's body is just not ready. It's harder and longer and the whole time you are just hoping the woman will turn the corner and get going. They lead to early epidurals, prolonged rupture of membranes and higher c section rates. Obviously there are many cases an induction is safer due to risks and in that case we are relived to be getting the show on the road.
Generally inductions are much easier with second babies, they are a little easier after 40 weeks. Still anything before 41 weeks with no medical reason is a "social induction" and those are the worst. The mother is usually "just done being pregnant" and sadly a good portion of those women end up requesting a c section after a day or two; or end up failing to progress after a certain point.
From a pregnant woman's perspective- I literally do not want to go a minute past my due date. No, I wouldn't request an induction (before 41 weeks), but it is mentally tough and physically exhausting to watch your due date come and go. So I understand why some patients come in at 40+1 to get the process going.
The best advice we give people is to go home- clean your house, have sex, bounce on a ball, walk the mall, have more sex and be patient. Most babies come when they are ready.

My boss had me run postage on every tax document we have to mail out for all of our 300 employees. I was thinking why not I have nothing better to do! Ohhh my back lol, should have pulled a chair in to the mail room. After cleaning hard last night and thinking about all I have to do tonight, I wish it hadn't come in today! Oh and of course baby girl was drop kicking my cervix ever few minutes. I had to keep switching legs for support so I wouldn't crumble 😴 nap on my desk time.
I told H to gear up for lots of sex because I'm going to want this baby OUT. She needs to come before 41 weeks or it's not going to be pretty. I'm terrified that she'll come the one day of the year I don't want her to and my body will shut down.

I just ordered a birthing ball off Amazon because I'm impatient.
Also, DH and I mutually agreed on a sex embargo. I'm not feeling super up to it and have the precise agility of a small hippo. He's kind of weirded out by how low the baby is and doesn't want to poke her in the head. (Which I told him was wishful thinking, but still...LOL)

If you want one today, they have them at Sears at the mall. I saw them there last week. You could cancel your Amazon order if you have time to head over there I believe they were around the same price.
