I'm all about chatting more and a lively board keeps people engaged, I posted here about a possible question of the day to help us get to know eachother more.....I figured I'd start something for now anyway and see how it goes. 


What's the most unusual thing in your refrigerator, right now?


If you could deliver a message to 13 year old you, what would you say?

Haha- love these!

1. We bought prunes yesterday, hello potassium! Maybe not THAT odd, but odd for my fridge that usually just sees leftover pizza!

2. Quit trying to like boys, its not gonna happen- move on!

What's the most unusual thing in your refrigerator, right now?
Hemp Hearts. Is that unusual? I also have spinach purée for smoothies that I plan to freeze into cubes later today.

If you could deliver a message to 13 year old you, what would you say?
Dance more, find a few great friends and keep them forever and most importantly, be kind to yourself because most of this won't matter in 10 years anyway.

Probably tempeh or homemade vegetable broth. Or possibly some mold growing on some leftover chili that I need to dispose of.

I would tell my 13 year old self to have confidence in myself and not worry about what other people think. And that it's ok to like girls. That it's totally acceptable in the future and not to worry about it. And to invest in Apple stock but not too much in the dot COMS, because they will crash. Oh, and to not go to grad school in the initial career I chose but to go straight into my current career.

2- not sure here. i could say a lot of things but really all the bad things i tried and got in trouble for built who i am today!

What's the most unusual thing in your refrigerator, right now?
My wife and I ate/drank like single bachelors this weekend, so we have beer and pizza in the fridge. It is unusual for us, but not for others.

If you could deliver a message to 13 year old you, what would you say?
Find a healthy way to cope with loss. You are going to turn to food soon, and will spend the next 20 years of your life trying to undo it. It isn't worth it!

Can you help me understand what the difference is between tempeh and tofu?

Life isn't fair and karma, while a nice idea, likely isn't real. Proceed accordingly.

There's nothing unusual in my fridge. Just the staples since i need to go grocery shopping. So boring lol.

I would tell myself that life gets better after your teens. Look out for yourself and stand up for yourself because no one else will. I would also tell myself that once you're finished with your BA, work your butt of to get your masters too. The recession will not be kind to you unless you pursue further schooling.

There's a bunch of boringly normal food in the fridge. We are not adventurous eaters.

I would tell myself that life is a bunch of ups and downs, enjoy the ride. And quit trying to be someone your not.

wittyandwaiting -- tempeh is fermented. And sometimes has grains mixed in depending on type you get I think. And consistency is harder. I'm really not sure otherwise. I almost didn't see your comment. I need to figure out easiest way to see tags!

Thanks, that kind of clears it up, or at least clarified for me that they are different.

I don't know how to see tags yet either; I think I have to go into notifications and make some adjustments.

Happy Monday!

1. There are a bunch of GonalF pens in my fridge. I think most would find that weird.

2. I'd tell my 13-year-old self to SHUT UP. I had a tendency to run my mouth, a terribly unattractive quality that I didn't get under control until later years.

2. I'd tell myself to relax and worry less what others think. Also, I'd tell myself that others spend far less time thinking about what I say/do/wear than I imagine they do.

What's the most unusual thing in your refrigerator, right now? Two bags of blood oranges (little oranges with red flesh). Other than that, it's well stocked but predictable.


If you could deliver a message to 13 year old you, what would you say? Chill. Just chill. You will be fine.

The most unusual thing in our fridge is always our cat's food: currently, she eats raw ground duck (meat, organ and bone) with supplement and some frozen veggies thrown in for vitamins. It's seriously gross and weird. We feed the other cat kibble, but Sissy cat is sensitive and needs a special diet. (I'm not normally into this kind of thing, but it was seriously a magic bullet for her assorted tummy troubles. Now we know that when the tummy troubles start again it means we have to sigh and start feeding her a new animal. First chicken, then turkey, then duck. I don't know what we'll do next...)

If I could tell my 13 year old self something it would be to start worrying less about managing other people's feelings (not that it would help). Also, that the perfect person for me is ahead and I'll absolutely know her when I find her. And I'd hug her and tell her she is special and amazing and beautiful and smart. Because she could always stand to hear that more.

Fridge: We have "love beets" in our fridge. They're peeled, individually packaged beets that we got at Costco because manada wanted them. We have not eaten them yet.

Message to 13 year old self: You don't have to be perfect to be loved. You don't have to do things for people for them to like you. (I also need to keep telling my 33 year old self this.)

1. My mom's home made pasta sauce. Takes ages to make and takes like my Nannu used to make. I wish it wasn't a rarity!
2. Spend as much time as you can with Nanna and Nannu. You'll lose them next summer and life will change.

-Some type of dried/cured salted octopus jerkey that my DH bought in chinatown... It looks like the kraken's mummy. yuck!

If you could deliver a message to 13 year old you, what would you say?
- I would say... Your life is going to get so sooo much better from here, like beyond you wildest imagination better. Hang in there... oh and Mom is totally batshit crazy... but she ends up marrying a guy with the last name Dragonheart... so enjoy that karma!
