Introducing Nora Elizabeth, born this morning at 6:08am. 8lbs 9oz, 20 inches long.
As many of you know, I was sent to L&D after my weekly OB appointment, and after being there about 7 hours, they decided baby needed to be born. I was really terrified of being induced, but it actually wasn't an awful experience. Pitocin started around 8:15, and it took awhile to feel anything. I was good until about midnight when I started not handling the pain well. Got an epidural a little before 1am and really didn't feel much after that. I was able to sleep quite a bit. When I was awake, I was having really bad shakes and got sick a couple times. My nurse was positioning me using a peanut ball. If your hospital has these, I'd highly recommend using them. My water broke a little before 6am, and it went very quickly from there. I pushed for 3 minutes! It was a totally different experience than when I had DS, and I'm very thankful for that.
I'm feeling pretty good now. Tired, but everything else is manageable. DS came to visit and was thoroughly unimpressed. He would sneak some peaks her way, but really didn't want any more than that.
Congratulations! What a beautiful name! And I second what you said about the peanut ball! I used one after my epidural and it really helped move things along.
