As much as I loved cuddling my newborn, I really am enjoying the transition into babyhood.
It was so nice seeing DH really happy on Sunday from the Patriots stunning win (sorry Falcons fans) because he's been in such a funk since the election of orange cheeto.

I can't put into words how done I am with all of this. The last two weeks have been hell with him fighting every. Single. F-ing. Nap. With screaming. I want to run away. I don't know if he's teething or what's wrong. He has no fever, is eating fine, and doesn't appear to have anything otherwise bothering him. I'm about to run away from home.
Oh, and I've been locked out if my computer for 30 days because that's how long it will be before I can access the recovery key. Or I can do a factory reset, and lose everything on it from the last 3 years. It's been at least year since I last backed it up because I can't find the external hard drive.

Thank you! All is well, just very busy. I am trying to handle all my responsibilities plus fit in workouts and reading and it will never all get done. Such is life.
Hope everyone is well here! Haven't had time to read.

Hi guys!!!
H, DS, puppo and I moved down to NC from NYC a few weeks ago. We've been staying with my in-laws, but we got the keys to our apartment today WOOO! Now just need to wait for all our stuff to arrive on the moving truck (hopefully tomorrow). I also just started my new job which will be mostly WFH. Hoping I have time to be a little more active here, because I miss you guys.
DS will be 6 months old on Monday - I cannot BELIEVE that. How the hell do I have a 6 month old?? I feel like was just KTFU a few months ago?! We've been doing purees with him and he basically loves everything so far: avocado, peas, pears, peaches, green beans, squash, pumpkin, apple, prunes... there might be more, but I can't think of any others.
ANYWAYS - I'm going to try to catch up and hope everyone and all their LO's are doing well!

pbandjelly How can we help? Do you want to post more info about your nap schedule/ routine so we can troubleshoot?
EllieT Mine do ok when I leave the room, but if I enter the room and don't immediately come over to him M totally loses it. We had to move out of the bedroom because if they see/hear us at night and we don't pick them up, they freak out. It's challenging.
bocaburger thanks. I don't even know. I think it's his wake time. He finally falls asleep between 2 and 2.5 hours of wake time. But he's acting tired and losing his mind at 1.5 hours. He's a really good night sleeper, getting about 12 hours with 1-2 wake ups. He was doing really well for awhile going down for naps, I could put him down drowsy and he'd be out. But now, I get him drowsy, put him down, and he loses his mind. I start when he shows tired signs. When it's clear he isn't going to nap, I stop and try again 30 min later. I repeat until he goes down. But he'll scream the entire time. His last nap today, I had to leave his room and let him cry. He was out after 15 min. I'm just losing my mind with the 1-1.5 hours of him fighting/screaming at nap time, 3 times a day. Yet he still goes down drowsy without a fight at bedtime.
As for routines, bedtime is diaper change, lotion, jammies, sleep sack, book, bottle, rock, bed. Nap time is diaper change, bottle, rock, bed. Maybe I need to add sleep sack and book to his nap routine too.
I don't know. What does everyone else do for nap time?
pbandjelly I'm sorry, nap time is always tougher bc the drive to sleep is lower. Even though *we* can clearly tell they're tired, they can't. I would consider adding a sleep sack and book to your nap time routine. It's worth a try!
pbandjelly DS sleeps at night for 12 hours so isn't ready for his first nap until the 2.5-3 hr range. He gets sleepy but is otherwise pleasant. And did find if I started too soon then he'd be pissed. And so far no nap routine.
When do you introduce lovies? E sleeps in a halo sleep sack that has these wings that wrap around his tummy (it was a swaddle transition, but since his arms are fully out it's safe - not that he's rolling...) and when he's self soothing he often pulls at the wings and rubs the fleece on his face. Seems like he would be comforted by a blanket or something. I know there are breathable ones, but I've also heard that nothing should go in the crib before 1.
hannahbear I keep a lovie in the crib and sometimes an a&a swaddle blanket during naps. It's a super light blanket that he likes to play with. I take it out at night, but leave the lovie. He can pull things off his face, so I'm not too concerned.
I so hope it's not that his wake time is too long. He got to the point where I was putting him down for a nap every hour to hour fifteen and he was a monster. When I transitioned him from 4 to 3 naps, he was perfect for 2 weeks. I almost wonder if he does need a longer wake time and 2 naps. But he's such a bear after an hour and a half.
pbandjelly Just curious, what do you think would happen if you actually rocked him to sleep? Maybe he is tired, but not enough to get himself to sleep then ends up getting too worked up? I guess from what you described, he sounds a little overtired to me. We are still at 1hr 45 or 2 hour wake times, and sometimes I can barely keep her happy that long.
annbuhdan rocking to sleep is hit and miss when it comes to transferring to the crib. If he wakes when I try to put him down, he flips out, arches his back, and screams. Much like trying to put him down drowsy. Yet at bedtime, I put him down drowsy and he's as happy as can be while he drifts off to sleep.

I can try shorter wake times tomorrow.
With DD1 I would sometimes grab a book or my phone and just hold her for the whole nap. It was a great excuse to just relax and snuggle a warm sleeping baby. 😊 I wish I could do it more often now with DD2!
