Sorry ladies, life got busy with the holidays and respiratory season at work. Thought I would share my birth story since I have an almost 3 week old. I have a history of having a preemie due to low fluid and poor growth plus being AMA so I was doing twice weekly NSTs and frequent growth scans. I had my 37 week appointment on that Friday and everything was looking great, but I was GBS+ for the first time and dilated to 2cm already. I was supposed to go to a friends baby shower on Sunday, but my OB didn't want me to go because it was 1.5hrs away. Spent the weekend lounging with my kids and ran some errands on Sunday that I hadn't done in a while. Got a pedicure since I was out by myself sans kids- it was great! I was dreading work on Monday because I had a jam packed schedule and it's respiratory season. I had already gotten what was likely norovirus the week before from work and ended up in L&D due to dehydration and contractions. I really just wanted to stay healthy and away from sickness, but that's what my job is!
I woke up at 3:30am Monday morning to pee and when I laid back in bed felt a little gush of fluid. Got up and changed but no more fluid so laid back down for a while. Kept happening only when laying down so finally woke my husband up around 5am to get things going. Of course we had an ice storm overnight so called the nanny to come, but it took a while. I had to go in instead of trying to labor some at home because I was GBS+ and a VBAC. Finally got into L&D around 8am and went thru all the testing to prove my water had broken. My OB wasn't on call, but happen to be operating that day so she was able to come manage me. Started antibiotics and then after they were in slowly started pitocin since I wasn't contracting much. Stayed at 3cm pretty much all day and was getting really annoyed. Got an epidural once contractions really started to kick in around 5pm. My OB, who likely wanted to go home, came in at 7:30 to check me and I was 9cm with a lip. She put a little pressure and I quickly felt like I had to push. About 2min later she was born after 3 pushes in one contraction. Her head was out after the first push but they had me go slow to avoid tears. I only had 1 tiny 1st degree tear requiring 1 little stitch. This was my 3rd VBAC and all have been very similar. Recovery has been great, I barely even took motrin. My growth US just 3 days before predicted 5lbs 15oz and she was 5lb 12oz. She had some excess weight loss(13% of body weight) by day 3, but then my milk came in and she gained 6oz in a day. Other then lots of spitting up due to reflux, she is doing great. My older kids have been sick since the weekend before she was born, but we have managed to keep her healthy and away from the sick older kids
