New Over Here...Take a Look at my Chart?

Hi everyone! I was beyond trilled to see an invite to this group in my inbox. Thank you to the two ladies who reached out to me during my loss that happened in the middle of the boards going silent.

Since my CP my cycle has been longer than normal. My doctor wanted me to chart closely for 30 days so we could come up with a game plan as I reach my one year mark of TTC. She did all the blood work and medically all tests came back great, but suspects I am not ovulating. Or if I am maybe my LP is too short. Anyway, I go back to her tomorrow, but wanted some input from you ladies before I go. It's nice to have more opinions and experience behind ya so I know what she may say and what questions I need to ask.

My chart went from O date of CD 19, to CD 25, to no O at all. Any thoughts? I tried changing from advanced to FAM and no change. So is FF crazy or do you think I didn't ovulate this month. Pre CP my cycle was a perfect 28 days. First cycle after CP was 36 days and this cycle I am currently on CD 32.

So frustrating. Especially since I have watched 7 of my friends get pregnant and deliver since my DH and I started trying. Ohhh well, we will get our blessing one day!!!

If you have had any similar experience I would loveeeee to talk to you more! None of my friends understand since they just pull the BC and get KU. Thank you allllll in advanced! I am so excited about being apart of this group.

Also, if you're not ovulating you couldn't have gotten pregnant. So why does she think you're not ovulating?

Welcome. I do not have any experience like this, but I wanted to say good luck and I hope you get answers soon!

haleymay: I don't think you've ovulated yet. Cycles post-loss can get really wonky and you may be looking at a new normal. Keep charting for now and if you reach 60 days with no positive test or period, ask your doctor to help you jumpstart your cycle.

Just because your cycles are changing lengths, doesn't mean that you aren't ovulating or your LP is short. Bodies aren't machines (even when they seem that way), so they can (and often do) decide to change things up randomly and for no reason.

Have you read our Newbie Blog in the pinned post at the top? It might give you some more insight; I definitely recommend the resource. :)

The month of did get pregnant the thought is I ovulated really late and the LP was too short. So I have ovulated, but not regularly or strong enough. Still unsure on that part. Tomorrow is the answers day, prior to then has been the "research" period!

I just started using this new doctor so of course I will find out way more tomorrow once we go over everything she tested and my chart in depth. Just wanted to know if there were specific questions I might need to ask or other peoples opinions

I'm with Rama on this one. Cycles post loss can be all fucked up. Just give it time. There's no need to worry about one weird cycle especially when it's the one immediately after a loss.

The bolded makes sense to me. You got CHs for CD19 because 3 higher temps, but the drop on CD23 would have taken them away. Then, you had 4 higher temps after CD25, but a drop on CD30  and it stays down, so I'm going to agree with FF and say I don't see O on your chart.

I have no advice or experience on your situation in general, but I am sorry for your loss. Welcome and good luck going forward.

Thanks you guys! I'm just trying to understand this new cycle. It took me 8 months to get my first BFP that ended very soon after so I'm just anxious to get there again and hate the thought of waiting 8 months again! But it will be much easier with a good group to talk to

Why are you getting tested after 8 months of normal cycles and one CP?

No, I am not seeing an RE at this point. I am going to talk to my OB about that tomorrow to see if that is the next step. She has a lot of experience with infertility professionally and personally. She had a 3 year battle of her own to conceive and ended up with twins. She had mentioned to me before if we had to go the medical route to conceive there would be lots of testing and monitoring involved. I've read a lot about the steps and precautions that should be taken if prescribed clomid so unless she is going to be doing all those things I will consult with an RE before I go any farther.

My cycles were normal in the sense of 28 days but my bbt charts (using different app) and OPK's never showed ovulation. My other doctor just blew off my questions though and said that bbt wasn't always accurate so if a year passed she would just write me a prescription and I would get pregnant. She also told me to just "pretend" all the pregnancy tests I took were wrong when I had my CP and wrote it off that way. That's why I have a new doctor and am now using FF per her instructions.

I'm not trying to be rude, but 8 months =/= infertility. Are you over 35? Your OB shouldnt be pushing for any testing if you arent. I took 7 months for my first pregnancy which I lost. Your 1 year clock resets after a pregnancy, successful or not.
There is no reason to assume you arent ovulating, especially so soon after a loss, your cycle will be fucked up, it just doesnt snap back to normal. keep temping and it will give you an idea of your O date and LP length. A loss sucks, but it doesnt mean there is an underlying problem.

Hello and welcome. I agree with PPs that your chart doesn't indicate ovulation yet. Were you charting prior to your loss? What makes you think you aren't ovulating or that you have a short luteal phase?

I do not think ovulation has occurred and I do think you need to give it a couple of cycles to see if things sort themselves out.

Welcome, I'm sorry for your loss.

FF gets cranky when you have low post-O temps. In your case it could mean you haven't Oed yet, or it could just be a wonky set of temps- I had this happen to me in my last cycle. I had several low temps post-O and I think the only reason I even have dotted CH is because I had a positive opk entered and AF that showed up "on time". Pretty confident I did O but if you were to only look at my temps it doesn't look like it.

In any case, you pretty much just have to wait it out. If you continue to temp, consider using OPKs as secondary data.

If you've been TTC for a year it's time to find a good RE for testing. They will monitor you through blood work and ultrasound to find out if/when you are Oing. FF is great but it's not perfect.

I did not use OPK's this month because I have in the past with no luck (lots of wasted $$). The goal was for this month charting to give me an "idea" of when I O (so I am using them on the right day) and next month use OPK's and chart BBT.

Have you tried using the Wondfos from Amazon?  You can get a shitload of them for not very expensive (~100/$35ish?  Or less, if you don't want that many) and they're easily as reliable as the big brands you find at most stores.  No guilt about money or wasting tests is one reason I love Wondfos. ;)

A lot of us use the cheap wondfo OPKs available through amazon. Some women do great charting without them but I personally have a hell of a time getting CH without the secondary info. Others also chart cervical mucous and cervical position. 

This totally is breaking the rules, but you could see what happens to your crosshairs if you enter a positive OPK on CD18.

I bought the Wondfo OPKs on Amazon recently. I think I got 50 tests for $20.  There's a list of recomended sellers to buy from on this site somewhere - you might have to use the search function to find it.

I found them to give me very clear positives. I was afraid there would be a lot of guess work in interpreting them, but it was clear.

As you get to know your body, hopefully you'll be able to use fewer OPKs. And I second all of the recommendations for wondfos.

Using the cycle after a loss to try to get an idea of what your cycles will be like is usually not going to work. Try next cycle.

For what it's worth, it took me 4 months of charting to get FF to give me cross hairs. I'm a mouth breather who has yet to move on to temping vaginally because I can usually still see the overall shift, even if FF can't. So don't lose hope just because FF hasn't given you the cross hairs - if you're anything like me and your temps are kind of rocky, it can take a while for FF to "get to know you" so to speak.
