DS2 slept much better last night. Not sure if it was out of sheer exhaustion or the antibiotics working, maybe both. I fed him at 6 and had him in bed by 7:30, after much wailing and protesting. He slept until 2:30 and then I woke him at 7:30 for daycare. He seemed happier today than he's been, so FX maybe it was an ear infection and he's on the mend.
DS1 woke crying that his forehead hurt and is still burning up, so I'm probably taking him in today. Now he says nothing hurts, but if I ask him if it hurts when he swallows he says yes. Still won't eat much, but is drinking. He fell asleep on the way home from dropping DS2 off at daycare.
I'm kind of glad DS2 was able to go to daycare. I feel like 1.0 doesn't get much 1:1 attention as it is, so I'm happy to be able to dote on him and cuddle him a bit today.
Staying home today with a sinus infection and severe laryngitis. It's pretty bad... Noticed DD get a cough and congestion as well. Hope it's just a cold and not something worse...
Y'all who have older kids....when you take an axillary temp, so you take the reading at face value or add a degree? Growing up I always heard to add a degree and in nursing school we learned that an axillary temp can vary from core temp 1-2*, so I'm never sure what to report to the doctor. DS1's temp has been 101-102 the last 3 days, without adding a degree. Do I (or do you) just say that? Or clarify that it was axillary and that those readings were without adding a degree?
At work, if we have to take an axillary temp, we chart the actual reading and mark that it was axillary and I think it's just an unwritten rule that we can assume the core temp is probably higher than that.
DH is home from work today because he's "tired". DS is at daycare. When DH wakes up, I'm going to clean and he can watch the baby. I also need to go harass my MIL to do a quick sew for me. I bought a bunting bag on clearance last night and I need to make it carseat-safe (cutting a wide hole in the back so theres nothing under baby). I just need her to sew the seams where I cut.

^Same.
If concerned, I will take a rectal temp, but I usually mentally add a degree and if I'm talking to the docs about DS I tell them it was axillary.
Well Canada is the wrong country to be hating on winter lol. I lived in Alabama from 99-02 and I hated my life. We moved there in the middle of their worst heat wave in 20 years. I got heat stroke. Eff that noise.

Yeah. Michigan isn't the best place to live and hate winter as well. I love our other 3 season though. And I do like that we have distinct seasons. But eff all this snow and cold and gray for months on end. And the sickness. I always talk about moving south and then MH reminds me that our worst summer days are the norm all summer there. Then I'm like "Nope." Winter is still the worst to me, but I'm also not about 95* and 1000% humidity.

Sorry for all the sick moms and kiddos...it seems like so many of you are facing this right now. My boys have strep but are on day 6 of abx so they are generally fine.
I'm with you @snuff9861, I don't mind winter at all and I HATE being hot. Which is ironic, living in Georgia. It's hot here all the damn time. Our "winter" has been borderline warm this year. We've had a few cold days, but it's mostly been hanging out in the 50s or 60s. It's weird.

You guys my whole job situation is in a major "the plot thickens" scenario right now.
We got an email this morning from the CEO that our whole corporate office is moving to another location and it will DOUBLE my commute (I already drive about an hour each way). They said the move will be in waves, starting in November of this year. So there was a part of me that was all "I really hope I get this job I just interviewed for now since it was cutting my commute in half".
Then my boss tells me he has applied for a higher position in our current company so he is going to recommend me for HIS position if he gets that other one, which means a big promotion for me potentially if I stay here. And now I'm like WTH? I mean I can't commute 2 hours one way...that's for sure. But there's still so much uncertainty! I'm torn.
britta, I'd say those of us not in the medical field don't over think it To a lay person, does it really matter if it's 102 or 103? It's a high temperature. If the doctor cares how the temperature was taken, he or she will ask in my experience.
ksyknelvr73 oh my!! Def DNW a 2 hour commute, but the other tidbit is an interesting development for sure! FX for you!! wahooMOM13 I tried a couple times. He just doesn't get it yet. 😩 @kitchen sorry about all the rain. DS1 and I watched video of a house being destroyed by a mudslide. I can't even imagine. I suppose I'll take cold/snow over days of rain and the threat of losing my home to the mud.

One step at a time girl. Let's find out about this job offer first. Hell no to 4 hour commute- how would that even be possible.
DS1 has strep and an ear infection in his right ear. So. He's on the big gun abx since it's considered "failed treatment" after the week long course of Amoxicillin and then developing another ear infection a week later. Hopefully this kicks it. It's crazy. He never got ear infections as a baby/young toddler, but he's had 4 or 5 in the last year, including 2 ruptures. It's supposed to get better they bigger they get!
ksyknelvr73 Exciting about the prospect for a promotion, but HELL NO on the commute. I used to commute about 3 hours total each day and it was awful mentally. If there was the option to only go into the office 2 or 3 days a week, then it might be ok. Seriously, horrible commuting memories for me.

becole and iwantbacon it looks like (and this isn't specifically laid out yet) we will have some work from home options and maybe a "flex campus" for those of us who are the most affected by the commute change. If they could allow for 2-3 days a week WFH and maybe meeting at a closer spot when needed, I could do that. Absolutely NOT commuting 4 hrs/day 5 days/week.

Even if they let you work from home 4 days and you went in 1/ week- that's 4 hours driving. You're still losing a lot of time.

So much illness, I am so sorry ladies. T&P for kiddos and moms alike. Tea all around!
ksyknelvr73, that is crazy! Man oh man oh man. I hope you get some feedback soon on the other job, because wow.
No UO here. Just work work work. It was hailing a bit this morning up where I lived on the northside, which was suckage. I got hot cocoa to perk up my day and it turns out Panera hot chocolate is le suck too. Like melted cheap candy bars. ;_;
I always add a degree when I take an axillary temp, but I always try to do rectal whenever possible.
I'm feeling so much better today and I'm glad I stayed home with the kids because this snow is insane. I just opened the door to my deck and stuck the tape measure in it. Just over 15" since 6am.
We majorly overslept this morning. I'm not sure if DH (the keeper of the alarm clock) figured DS2 would wake us up or just forgot to set the alarm, but we didn't wake up until 7:20. I'm not complaining about the extra sleep though. I had to take DS1 to the eye doctor at 9AM anyway so it actually worked out ok. I just didn't have to take DS1 with me to work before going to the doctor.
And because I wanted to further delay getting to work, DS1 and I stopped for donuts after his appointment. We stopped at the grocery store to get him a pumpkin bar, but when he saw the donuts, he wanted one of those instead. It was huge and I should have split it with him. His tummy had to hurt after all the sugar!
Absolutely not moving. We are where we want to be. I mean...this office location change is my actual job I have now. The one I've been at for 4 years. It sucks to see what most likely means the end of my time here.

I know. It's tough. Right now I drive 10 hours a week in commuting time. So 4 hours is a big cut for me, but that's assuming they would be okay with it.

Sorry for all the sick kiddos.
Went up to work to visit with my mom and coworkers (mom works in the same office). Was going to run a few errands but the check engine light came on as I was driving back to our end of the city so I came home. Hope it just has something to do with all the snow and deep freeze weather... We're talking about getting me a new SUV since mine is 10+ years old with over 200,000km's (125k+ miles), however we're hoping to wait a couple more years and have DH's truck paid off. Would really like to only have 1 car payment. DH will take a look at it when he gets home. I need to go get DS's passport pictures done. Need to get that sent off asap as we're hoping to book a vacation in the next 6-8 weeks.
Snow day here. DHs work is closed, I'm so happy. After DD2 waking up at 1030 last night, I went into the guest room and slept til 7. DH did wake ups. I feel better after a good night's sleep. I think finally she's going in her room tonight. It would have been last night but I noticed a rash. She still has it today, so I called the pedi, and they weren't concerned. I got her bureaus organized with what 6 month clothes still fit, 9 month and 12 month clothes. DD1 took a good nap too. So I feel like I've gotten decent break from the norm. I can't believe we were outside playing yesterday and now we're having a blizzard. So crazy.

It's snowing horizontally here. Commute home is going to be the worst. -_-
hikingmama222 Hope your SUV is just a little tired and it's not a major thing with the engine. Maybe just some oil needed? I understand wanting only one car payment, cause just one alone is so pricey. We just paid off our car this past November, so I hope we last a few more years before needing a second.
