I thought I'd post this now while I have a few minutes!
On Friday, 2/10, MH and I arrived at the hospital at 7 a.m. for our scheduled c section. We lucked out big time and didn't encounter any delays or emergencies ahead of us, so we were right on schedule for our 9 a.m. delivery. When we arrived at the hospital, I started having strong contactions, but we all ignored them since surgery was imminent. Around 9 a.m. I walked into the OR and got my epidural. When I numbed up and the OB lifted my gown to get my prepped for my cathader, we realized my water broke! On the OR table! So this baby was coming that day, scheduled or not LOL!
The c section went perfectly. I had very little scar tissue from J's delivery and C was positioned well. He was delivered at 9:37 a.m. weighing 8 lbs. 5.6 oz.
Unfortunately, his first big breath was all amniotic fluid and blood. They worked on getting the fluid off his lungs for an hour in the OR. At that point I was wheeled to recovery and MH stayed with C while they worked on him. We didn't get to do skin-to-skin, but I did get to hold C for about 5 minutes before they took him to the NICU.
As of today, he's on two antibiotics and he has a breathing tube. They're going to feed him some of my breast milk today so that's positive. It's been a long road already, and C will most likely be in the NICU for ten days. There's more to his journey, but that's where we are now.
I'll update when I can. We'll take all the T&Ps you have.
And I'll post a pic once I have one that's NICU and wire-free. He has a bunch of dark hair, his sister's little nose, and almond, dark eyes. He's just beautiful. I can't wait to snuggle and kiss him...
