I'm here. We're all battling colds. Went to the auto expo just for a short trip yesterday and my husband is officially drooling over the Odyssey. The other two minivans just didn't compare as far as comfort and car seat options.
I wish I had gotten a used car because being in it with the toddler for a couple years, it's destroyed. Plus I scratched it up and have to pay to fix it. But then it's still probably going to effect resale. So now I'll have to keep it a long time and I already want a new car. I think I just need to clean it but even the back door of the trunk- everything is so banged up from stroller shifting around and omg all the goldfish.

We're looking around the same year that lindsay got. Most cars depreciate to about 50% at the 5 year mark. Most of the ones I've seen have 50-80K miles, but a Honda is going to run forever. I'd love a new, new car, but it's just not worth it.
First Zoey woke up and still had a fever, so was trying to figure out what to do. H was already at work and came home so I could go into work, since he can work from home and today's my first day for the new project.
Backed my car out of the garage and scraped the van we just got. It seems like it can all be wiped off, not sure about my car.
Then eating my bagel on my drive, and get a weird feeling from too much food in my mouth. Take it out but it was too late, cue throwing up all over my car and my clothes. H is coming to save me for a third time today.
I bought my highlander used it's a 2012 and it's destroyed too from N. sometimes I wish I had new then I think about 2 kids destroying it. Not much going on here. I'm probably going to hit up marshalls later then hopefully a nap in the afternoon when baby naps - excitement over here.
We always buy used cars because I just don't trust myself with nice things, and also because I don't think I could bring myself to pay for any extra options if I bought a new car and could see exactly how much each thing cost me. But when there's a used car on the lot with all the bells and whistles it just looks like an even better deal. The last few cars we bought (well, not counting the Volvo we "bought" from FIL) were only 1-2 years old and I always feel like we got a good deal, but it's always a really long process looking for one that has everything I want.
I'm definitely waiting until the kids are older to get a new one. I'll take a trade in and maybe get a year old. My car is the base model with no extras so it was the same price as used ones with features I don't need. I just wonder if I should trade it at 3 years old or wait. It was purchase April 2014 and it has 26k miles.

You could play around on edmunds.com or kbb.com to see how much it's worth, and try to predict what will happen if you wait.
We find out a week from today if this baby is a boy or girl and I CAN NOT WAIT. I'm thinking about names, and I need to just slow down until I know. I always thought I had a girl name I wanted to use, but then a few months ago I had a dream that I had a girl and named her something different, and that name is really growing on me. But if it's a boy, we're in trouble. H had a short list of boy names last time, and I hated every single one except the one we used. LOL
Several times the daycare has fed baby his last bottle at pickup. Not like just an ounce but a whole bottle. I've tried to explain that I need to feed baby at pickup or when H brings him home at that time- I can't wait two more hours. I'm sure it's helpful with formula to be fed before pickup but not with BF. I mentioned it at drop off today and got pushback. I am at a loss. H said to send the 4th bottle with only an ounce. But there are certain days where the feedings wind up with the 4th bottle at 3pm- in those situations it's okay to give the whole 4. Then she also mentioned that they have the freezer stash too. But I'm like- I'm basically telling you- if baby is fussing after an ounce- that's fine- because I'm about to be there with a feeding. I don't know what to do.

It sounds like they're not understanding why you don't want them to feed. Because I don't know what the freezer stash has to do with anything. I always got the best results if I wrote down requests like that. I would put things on a sticky note and they would stick it to his clipboard. I would just write "Please don't feed after 4:30pm (or whatever time). I prefer to breast feed at pickup."

I told her this morning that I can't just pump when I go home with two kids. I'm not saying don't feed him at all. I think leaving a couple ounces is fair. For some reason I feel like I'm just having the same conversation over and over. They don't have a clipboard for each kid, just the daily sheet and a place where they write the last feed and diaper change. The communication is just not going very well, which doesn't make sense because this room is pretty calm and organized with veteran teachers. I feel like this would be a very common request of Bf moms- to time the bottles right and with pickup. But idk.

Is he too young for a strict schedule like "Bottle 1: 8-9:00, Bottle 2: 11-12:00 etc"? then you could make that 4th bottle smaller and they can have the emergency freezer stash just in case that schedule doesn't go as planned and they need to give him the full 4th bottle.
If they only give him an ounce or two from the last bottle is the rest going to waste? I think at our DC they had to dump it if he started eating and didn't finish it. I know most people cringe at dumping the bottles, so maybe that's why they don't understand what you're wanting.

Hi Guys, hope everyone's Monday is either getting better or is staying consistent. I'm just popping in to say, I am so excited for my Valentine's Day date tonight with the cutest almost 4yo I know... Hope everyone has a terrific rest of the day, and an awesome Valentines Day tomorrow (I work both places tomorrow so I won't be in much).
The scheduled feeding doesn't work well since his naps are all over the place. I basically said not sooner than every 2 hours but basically go by "on demand". Some days the nap stretches the times and other days he's eating all 4 bottles. That's a good point about dumping bottles. I have asked them not to feed at pickup. I also sent an extra bottle so they technically could split the milk in half if the timing didn't work out. I also sent frozen in 2 ounces and 4. So I was sending 4 3 ounce bottles. Then they asked for 4 ounce bottles so I was sending 4 4 ounce. But then the last bottle was always too late. I told her I would even send 3 5 ounce bottles if they stretched his feeding so he only needs 3 bottles. But he likes to eat often so I don't think that will work. So today I sent 3 4 ounce and one 2 ounce. Knowing they have the freezer stash so if the last bottle winds up being at 4:30pm- they only use 2. If it's at 3pm- then they can thaw another 2 frozen. I think they're just trying to have that 4 ounces every day just in case. And I'm being protective of the fact that most days I don't have 16 ounces anyway- so I'm having to use stash. Then there's other days where the entire 4th bottle isn't used at all- because he stretched longer. I think he's just so inconsistent that they don't know what to do. I know no one wants a hungry baby but I'm also not going to scrape sending 16 ounces every day just for the chance that he might have a hungry day. It's not happened often. But this is all still early and babies change all the time.
I always get new cars, which is such a waste. I don't know anything about cars so I'm afraid if I go used there will be a ton of stuff wrong with it. H's cousin just moved to Cincinnati and he is a master mechanic, so maybe if we decide to go used with the next car I'll see if he can take a quick look to make sure we aren't getting something that was in a serious accident that doesn't show up on carfax.
H is out of town for work for potentially a few days so I have to do both drop off and pick up for a few days. He may be home tonight. He may be home Thursday. That being said I'll probably be MIA until the evenings when I can catch up.
But this is all still early and babies change all the time.
This exactly. Hopefully in the next couple weeks, they will be able to get him on a semi-regular schedule for naps and feeding and this won't be a struggle for long. I know it's hard to have a "let's be flexible" attitude about it when you're barely pumping enough. Are you able to pump on the weekends to make up for the pumping deficit during the week?
I know I've said it before, and feel free to ignore me, but giving myself "permission" to give a bottle of formula every now and then was a huge weight off my shoulders. Even one formula bottle every other day could mean you don't have to stress anymore about pumping enough, but you won't lose out on any of the good parts about breastfeeding.

lindsay, I hope you afternoon is starting out better than your morning!
I'll be solo parenting this weekend as well. DH is going to Yellowstone with his uncle to go snowmobiling. I can't say I'm not a little jealous (but then I remember I got to go to NYC when he didn't, so it all works out lol).
becole ugh that is so annoying. I'd keep bringing it up until they get it right. Cuz it messes with your supply if you need to BF at say, 4 PM but baby is already full of milk. Obviously you don't want to pump again when they could have just held him off a little longer and then he could have BF. Are you able to consistently get to DC by a certain time most days, so that they know to wait?
I want to say 4 oz is a pretty typical amount. I did 4 oz for DD from 12w-1 yr, and it I want to say it was 3 bottles a day while I was away (8:30 - 5/6). Sometimes the sitter needed to use bottle #4, like if it was a growth spurt or she was just extra hungry, but not typically.
I get what you're saying JoBub with the formula. I would use formula if I truly wasn't keeping up. But it's like lindsay said about being protective of supply. If I pump at 2:30 and am ready to feed at 4:30 and have to wait until 6 to feed him, my supply will drop over time. I only get in like 2-3 feeds/ day during the week anyway so I don't want to drop any because babe does so much more for my supply than pumping. So it's not necessarily just the bottle- it's that he needs to be ready to eat.
