Morning! I feel like a huge N16 slacker. I'm all, "what'd I miss, what'd I miss?!"
The past week or so has been super busy (apparently Valentine's is the new Christmas, with all the preparation I felt was necessary?) and we went up to visit my sister in Charleston over the weekend, which was a lot of fun. C came down with a cold week before last and I took her to the pedi when she couldn't kick it, to find double ear infections (it was also in her eye). She's been her usual sweet, unfussy self so I had no idea about her ears; I'll take my mom of the year trophy now. But she's on an antibiotic now (same thing DS was on) so that should clear it up.
Hopefully things will settle down for a bit now. Except that I have our realtor coming out tomorrow to take a look at the house, so I'm in panic mode and must complete all the things before then. Pass the wine!
I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day! Off to catch up...
waitwhat I hope whatever you may have is shortlived. This seems to have been a particularly rough cold/flu season. Our whole household has been sick and it stinks.
It just happened again (naps at the exact same time)...I'm scared to get excited about this.
But I'm thinking our new sound machine has everything to do with it. I take them both upstairs to our bedroom (where we all sleep with the sound machine on) and they keep falling right asleep (was trying to do naps in the living room previously). Btw this is the sound machine my mom bought us last week and good lord everyone is getting one for Christmas:
Anyone else's 3 month old already grow out of their infant car seat?! Ugh! I'm so mad. I got the Britax b safe 35 elite and he's already too big. He's hated it since day 1 but now getting him out of it is very difficult. Since he's still too young to support himself I'm going to have to buy another one! I heard the non elite one has more room so I might look into that since I have the britax bases and stroller adapter. The elite added so much extra non removable padding that only tiny babies fit. They say it's good until 35 lbs!!! I would like to see that because O is 14 lbs.
LizInFL Aww poor C! MH has total hearing loss in one ear (which started as a young kid, LSS he was still in Poland and medicine at that time was not what it is here and now) but as a result he won't let me wash the babies ears until spring - not sure how I feel about it but I guess his started as an ear infection that wasn't properly treated and healed?). I'm rambling. I hope C is feeling better and what a sweetie that you didn't even notice a change in her temperament!!
@sarahwithanh So happy you're home and I look forward to an update.
danib You as your boys are the cutest, sweetest of all time! I'm glad to see your play mat on the hard floor. I haven't used the one we got as a gift because we have hardwood floors (no carpeting anywhere) and I wasn't really sure if I could just let them be on the hard ground. Do you put anything under it?
waitwhat You need my polish NyQuil !!! I'll have a shot in your honor tonight and hope it kicks what you have via transmosis or some unheard of magical transmittal method. I hope it's maybe just a lack of sleep ??
tgrimes1980 Do people not read? Next time is give 'em a full show.
vinolove How do you determine what is the "bedtime". So both of ours go down around 6:30 which seems soooo early and from that point on, even if they wake up it's only for a bottle and they are in a sleepy/dreamy state. They do wake at 8:30 for a bottle but it's a really sleepy/not alert/very dreamy state. So would 6:30 be considered when they are going to bed, or would I probably use their first long stretch which starts at 8:30 and goes to about 1am or 2am ?
kleigh I'd say that 6:30 seems to be their bedtime, it's exactly what you said, they are out and any subsequent feedings are like dream feeds. Although 6:30 seems early it's a great bedtime for this age.
Julia doesn't stand a chance much before 8:30pm unless she can learn to sleep through B's evening routine, we calm the house about 7pm so that is the goal but I'll take 8:30 for now. Generally the 'bedtime' is 12 hours so the last 3 hours i get from J from 5:30-8:30ish works perfect in the morning because B is up at 6am and is full of energy.
So does she stay up during that time or nap? I would love to push their bedtime out just a little if I could but not trying really, not at this stage (H only gets home an hour earlier so e doesn't get to see them, and we are usually eating dinner at that time, and hey wake up super early)...
D had a shit night last night. She pulls these out of nowhere every so often. Makes me extra thankful not to have to attempt to function at work just yet. I'm thinking potential growth spurt. She's was nursing a lot this morning and in the past two days she has nursed from both sides in a feeding twice (usually she only nurses one at a time).
I'm going to a networking event tonight. It'll be the first time I've left both kids with the nanny alone. Actually it'll be the longest I've been away from D at all (~4 hours). Hopefully she won't freak out if I'm not here to nurse her every hour and a half!
Morning! My last week of maternity week is not going as planned. Not only do I have a cold but I also developed mastitis. I'm waiting on the call back from my dr's office to get a prescription.
I'm so sick of winter and the constant cold symptoms in our house. FFWC: H and I still haven't had sex since C was born because one of us has been sick.
Dogs and baby this morning! I was up, I fed the dogs, went back upstairs to finish feeding L and next thing I know it is 10:50 in the morning! L and I were surrounded by dogs! I can't even tell you how/when they got on the bed with us!
cookswithwine9 it doesn't seem right that he could have outgrown the seat already. Can you call the manufacturer maybe? Or maybe there is something in the manual that will show you some way to adjust it for him? buckyb you poor thing! I hope the mastitis clears up quickly. I have had it twice in my life and it was awful.
cookswithwine9 I feel like Alec is getting snug in his Chicco Keyfit even after removing the insert - mostly a height issue here. Does the Britax have an infant insert you can/need to remove? Also check the back of it - are there a few "slats" where the straps can go - you might need to adjust those.
Hey all! I'm visiting a friend with a 4 wk old today. I stopped at Starbucks on the way and was in the drive thru line when she said she didn't want anything. I didn't feel bad bringing my chai tea latte to her house but would have felt bad eating food at her house. So I shoved this in my face on the drive over

cookswithwine9 That's insane! We have the Chicco KeyFit 30. Lillian was in it until 14 months. Lilah has tons of room to grow. I make little babies, but still. The infant seat is supposed to last a year or so.

Lillian had dance class this morning and then had a huge meltdown at home saying she didn't want to play with any of her toys. That was fun. But she got over it and has now been playing with her play doh for about 40 minutes. We are going to have lunch a little early and then go grocery shopping. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a nap after that. Getting DH at 4. We are going to fix our disposal tonight. We are buying the same model so it should be really simple.
DS was in his infant seat until, I want to say, 14 months? Maybe 15? And I would still carry him around in it. All of my friends thought I was nuts. He was (and still is) totally average for height and weight. I'm just above average in laziness and didn't want to have to lift him in and out of the car, so I held out as long as possible.
H and I DTD for the first time last Sunday night. No BC of any kind. FX we don't have a baby in one of those "Superbowl Baby" ads next year.

dashook Thanks! I tend to take lots of pictures of Lilah, realize I have like one of Lillian and then take a bunch of her. Sibling pictures take care of that problem!
LizInFL, don't feel bad at all about not noticing ear infections in C. My kid, up until last month gave us no indication that he had ear infections until he'd have a really high fever then surprise us with a febrile seizure. Only in the past month will the kid pull on his ear.
tgrimes1980, a little late, but pumping over here too. Solidarity sister, pumping sucks.
hangry, I love that you posted food pics before baby pics!

Legit lol to putting your laziness on a growth curve!! I'm going to say I'm just below average.
Also haven't DTD yet either. I think H is scarred to get pregnant again even tho I'm on be.

B was in his infant seat (Chicco Keyfit) until close to a year. He was such a big baby and I was so tired of lugging him around, but you can't beat the convenience factor when they're napping. I imagine I'll do the same for C. We have the Chicco Liteway stroller frame, which is so great for quick errands, so I will use the infant seat as long as I can just so I can use that!

I'm just hoping to get through march with the bucket seat. By then the cold weather should be over and I won't feel bad carrying her from car to whatever building. She fits just fine in it, but I have one of the heavier seats at 11 pounds. Combine that with the weight of my little chuck and I'm giving myself a workout just walking out to the garage.
