becole - I don't think I'm going to be able to see her until next month. DH, me and the kids are flying up to NH next weekend for my niece's first birthday so that *should* be a nice break from the monotony of everyday life.
Sometimes you just need someone outside of the newborn bubble to say "hey you're gonna be okay." Life is gonna get easier. It's going to get better. And remind you who you are. As a human. Not a struggling working mom.

jwinct, When my parents got married, my mom made a "no grass, no gas" rule. She will drive with the gas light until my dad is around to fill it up. And she wouldn't even know where to begin when it comes to mowing the lawn.
@female hope O starts turning the corner soon. Good luck at your dermatologist appt. britta yay for a good day! Enjoy! I also do not like plain Greek yogurt but do like flavored. Vanilla Greek yogurt is also not good. smallpotato that's great his school is so supportive. Enjoy Moe's! @snuff9861 good luck with DSs dermatologist appt too! iwantbacon, big hugs for how you're feeling. No need to apologize. I feel like I complain a lot and I'm so glad everyone here is so supportive. Vent away. I hope you can sneak a little time off for yourself. @become I hope the blood work shows something that can be treated quickly and easily. And I hope you start feeling better soon. jcrewgirl I just tagged you in the other thread but also wanted to say here that I'm glad you are taking some actions towards feeling better.

Good luck with DS's appointment @snuff9861. iwantbacon, if you can take the day tomorrow, do it. I was definitely in a fog when the boys were sick a few weeks ago, and it definitely affected me physically and at work. Don't apologize for complaining; we're here to listen and commiserate. becole, I hope the bloodwork will give you some answers. jcrewgirl, I cannot tell you how happy I am to see this update. Everything you did is a big step towards taking care of yourself. I hope you have a great trip next weekend. adouces06, so glad the MRI went well. Hopefully it is nothing, and DS is back to normal quickly from the anesthesia.
I will make appointments for my car if I can do it online. MH will call to make appointments if we need it. I hate the phone and try to avoid it at all costs. That reminds me that I need to make an appointment for an oil change.

britta we have uncharacteristically warm days forecasted here as well. Like...the high on Sunday is 76. I am BAFFLED. It's NEVER this warm in February! Granted, winter here is never as cold as most places anyway but typically February is like 40s or 50s.
britta my H makes me take care of my own car stuff and I hate it because my dad always did that stuff for me and I feel a little resentful.
MH has taken care of my car stuff since we were dating. I think it's been 7 years since the last time I got my own oil changed. 😳🤷🏼♀️ He set the precedent man.
adouces06 I'm so glad it went well. Propofol is wonderful. The half life is very short, so "waking up" is quicker and, usually, easier.
erien22846 not adouces, but yes, Prop is administered IV. When DS1 was admitted with RSV, 3 different nurses tried poking him for an IV. They mentioned moving to his scalp and then the attending stepped in and said they'd watch him eat a few more hours before trying again. Thank God. That would have been my breaking point.
Post by ksyknelvr73 on Feb 16, 2017 11:49:31 GMT -5
fem I hope the RSV lets up some soon. That has to be so tough.
jcrewgirl so glad you took those steps!! That's all you need to do, baby steps. Definitely moving in the right direction.
adouces06 so glad to hear the MRI went well! I thought maybe telling you how bad waking up from anesthesia was could at least prepare you for the worst, so I'm thankful it wasn't that bad!

G had an IV when he was in the hospital for his cold, and the first IV blew out. They had to call in a special team to get the IV in his other hand. It literally took 4 nurses to get the new one in; it was horrible to watch. I would have lost it if they suggested his scalp. As it was, they taped his hand to a board to keep it still. It was so hard to see my 3 week old baby with all of that.
One of the local meteorologists I follow on FB said there's a model that is showing 60 degrees for next week. Please and thank you. I'm tired of the cold.
jcrewgirl good for you! Congrats on the weight loss! As of about a week ago, I'm officially in the 130s, but just barely. Still, gains!! I think you're probably taller than me though, so perspective I guess.
smallpotato DS2 had an IV in his little hand while he was in NICU. H went with him while they closed me, so he saw it get put in. I asked if it was hard to watch and he was like, "Eh. They did a good job." He's the king of no emotion and not getting riled up though. I'm glad I didnt have to watch.

DS2 is much better today and I'm back at work. DH actually seemed much improved as well this morning already - he wasn't coughing nearly as much and didn't sound as stopped up.
I have to solo parent tonight and tomorrow night. It's complete and utter chaos when I pick the kids up after work and I'm kind of dreading it. At least tomorrow I can skip the baths for the boys and just let DH handle it Saturday instead. It's always mad rush til bedtime and then I may or may not remember to eat dinner and pass out on the couch. Fun times!
Still no word on the job either. I'm feeling pretty discouraged about it but trying to remind myself that I'm good where I am.
iwantbacon I'm feeling really guilty right now with missing so much work, but you gotta do what is best for you and your family. You might need a day to catch up and reboot.
@adouces6 I'm glad the appointment went well. I hope that the next week goes fast for you.
My anxiety is still at about an 8 so I'm watching Forks Over Knives, which basically says that a plant based diet can prevent/cure a lot of ailments. I don't know if I totally buy it but it makes me feel like it's something I could control. I don't eat much meat or dairy anyway.

I can't even imagine what that must have been like. G also had to have a spinal tap when we went in. Luckily, I was not in the room for that (MH was since I was in the ED waiting room with N). I doubt I would have been able to handle that. MH is also the calm one when it comes to this kind of stuff, probably due to his EMT training.

Did they look at your toe? What did they say?
My appointment is in an hour and a half. I'm just still spiraling.
Thanks for asking. And yes I would rather have a health scare for myself versus for my children any day.
Y'all talking about medical stuff makes me so sad. I just think about how many kids are always in the hospital...
My (step) grandma's adopted granddaughter is having a huge belly surgery today. They're taking out her entire large colon and part of her small and creating an ileostomy. She's only 14. But she has a congenital condition where hundreds of polyps form in her stomach/intestines and are at huge risk for becoming malignant. They've been monitoring her since she was a baby and doc said it's go time now. Everything needs to come out. Her parents wanted to wait until summer when she's out of school and they wouldn't even wait that long.
jwinct hope work goes ok! @ksyknelvr sorry for the no news yet on the job. I hope it's a good reason and the godmother response is right around the corner.
The school nurse just called to tell me that DD1 has a sore throat and doesn't feel well. She is getting a cold and told me she had a sore throat this morning, so it must be getting worse. I'm a mean mom and told her to stick it out and only go back to the nurse if it's so bad she can't stay at school any longer. I can't just up and leave today, and DH is really busy at work, too. Ugh!
Dd1 had preschool and dd2 was so good that I got a lot of cleaning done which always makes me feel good. The day otherwise has been good. Except dd1 doesn't appear to be falling asleep for her nap. Well see how that goes. I'm debating reading a discipline book recommended by the pedi yesterday or crocheting with trashy tv. I read half of it yesterday so I think I can indulge today. LO had her 4 month appt yesterday. I don't even think I checked in here yesterday. And I'm till catching up everywhere. But she checked out great. She's huge, haha.
adouces06 hopefully it was nothing and you get results soon!
DS's appt was fine. Even though it's so big and located over the spine, the doctor has now deemed him "low risk" (in the high risk group). Other than fading and getting hairier, there's been no other concerning changes since he was born. She said his skin colouring is more likely going to be a factor (he's pale and a ginger). He has increased risk of about 2% of getting melanoma (vs the general population). She's letting him continue his now yearly appointments (they used to be every 2-3 months) and she doesn't necessarily even need to see him. One of the junior residents can handle it unless something concerning occurs.
For those struggling with PPD/A, do what you have to do to get better. Trust me. I had ppd with DS (diagnosed at 4 months) and the meds were SO helpful. I was a completely different person, I could focus on school work, and enjoy DH and DS. I was weaned off of them completely 7 months later. Just long enough to get out of the fog.
Does anyone use or have tried Stitch Fix? I need some serious help in the fashion department. Plus, I have to dress up for work now. 😒 Speaking of that, ladies who have to "dress up" for work....where do you shop? What shoes do you wear?? HALP. Bye bye scrubs, hello dress clothes and white lab coat. 😖
Post by macaronmama on Feb 16, 2017 14:13:14 GMT -5
britta I've used StitchFix a few times. I link directly to a Pinterest board of style and fashions that I adore that I also know are better for my body shape to help them get a better idea of what I like - I think I've gotten four boxes total from them, one during my pregnancy. The maternity box was a complete miss in terms of style (seriously, the clothes were hideous), but in general, the boxes always had at least two items I liked. I always ask for things closer to my price range, which is around $50/piece, which is the cheapest they tend to go around. I generally ask them not to throw in accessories, but my first box did have a necklace I freaking adore (and ended up purchasing).
I wish I could send a referral for a free box to ship to you, because scheduling a box is $20, but if you purchase something, the $20 gets applied as credit. I am specific about what clothes I need (aka, I tell them I work in ___ environment, need breathable pieces, etc.). If you want, I can send you pics I took of my boxes/style tips I received? I have them from when friends were asking about it.
Also, I have to dress professionally at work. I shop mostly at White House|Black Market when they have sales because their stuff tends to fit me best (their ponte pants fit me perfectly, and that never happens with my curvy butt and short legs), but occasionally I find things that fit well at GAP with a few choice pieces from Target. I tend to get basic pants/skirts and go wild with my tops and earrings. Necklaces are also generally neutral, as are my shoes. I have a couple of black/navy jackets for important meetings, but it sounds like you have a lab coat, so no need.
