Sorry. Hope your LO is feeling better. That sounds like a rough situation all around.
Right now DH and I work opposite schedules. I think if it came down to it I would be the one to stay home. DH's job gives write ups for calling out, he makes more an hour and has the opportunity for overtime.
My job has a slower pace and is more relaxed. That's not to say people would be happy if I called out, but I think I would face fewer guilt trips than DH.
Thanks, jil! She's doing much better. She'll be ready to go back to daycare next week.
I can't believe your hubby's job writes people up for calling out. That just seems excessive.
They're allowed three write ups/incidents before there is a consequence; and it resets every month or something. But yeah it's lame. The only thing I can imagine is that they must have had employees abusing days off at some point.
for us, it's the opposite in that when I'm at work I usually have 16-20 patients scheduled to see or I'm in the hospital and it's extremely difficult to call out. Unless I'm on death's door, I'm at work. I would bring DS with me to work before calling out if need be. However, DH works from home and is self-employed, so he bears the brunt of taking our son to appts and caring for him when he's sick. On my days off though I do it all so he gets his time back. Luckily I work only 4 days a week so I can be home more. He does resent it sometimes but there's not a lot we can do to change things.
toratoratori I was totally dumb founded when he said. DH's company is small, boss/owner, secretary and him as the repairman/installer so him not working is inconvenience to his boss but it isn't the end of the world. DH also isn't expected to ever be sick and unless on deaths door expected to work contagious and all. Funny part is he gets a check in July for 3 weeks paid vacation but then his boss throws a fit when DH wants to take any extended time off. I don't get it and have stopped trying.
