HSA funds can be used to buy pregnancy tests!!

Title says it all. Just happened to come across that while looking for covered adoption expenses. I wonder if the IRS will get suspicious that I've purchased dozens of tests over the last 15 months.

Well, if you try to claim some other than the tax year you are filing, yeah, that could be an issue.

Actually, you can reimburse yourself at any time as long as the services/items were purchased after the establishment of the hsa. Woot!

The funds roll forward, but you could not claim a 2013 expense on your 2014 return or get reimbursed for it from your 2014 funds.

My husband and I had leftover funds last year that we used to buy a lot of pregnancy/family planning stuff. In fact, I bought a breast pump (really hope I get my return on investment on that, hahaha). There are websites all over that sell items categorized by what you can use the FSA funds for. Here is an example:

You can reimburse yourself from expenses from last year. The date of reimbursement is what matters (as long as you had an existing hsa at that point), not the date of purchase.

Can I use my tax-free HSA savings to pay for — or reimburse myself for — IRS-qualified medical expenses from a previous year?
Yes, as long as the IRS-qualified medical expenses were incurred after your HSA was established, you can pay them or reimburse yourself with HSA funds at any time. Just be sure to keep sufficient records to show that these expenses were not previously paid for by another source or taken as an itemized deduction in any prior tax year.

Yup! I pay for my sessions with my HSA card then send my forms in for reimbursement to my insurance as they cover 70%.
