Nothing baby related at all to say, which feels ridiculous. 40+ weeks pregs with no signs of labor, I'm barely interested in talking about it with anyone or even thinking about it. After 9 months I feel very bored with planning for baby and just want to get started as a family of 4.
Dh said we should go to Disneyland in 2019...so I'm letting 2 year early planning take over my work-day, that's how desperate I am for a distraction!

Fall 2019 is our planned Disney trip! Figure going with a 6yrbold and two 2yr olds should be okay.

He's back up to 10lbs 3oz! She agreed it could be reflux but also said that hiccups are also a symptom of a full belly so that alleviated some of my worries about his eating. We're supposed to try alternating burping him with rocking him upright back and forth and see if that helps get any extra air pockets out. So far no hiccups after this feeding, but he still won't lay on his back. Maybe I just need to prop up his bassinet more.

For sure! Even the extra half year that going in the fall gives you should give the 2 year olds plenty of time to mature for the big trip! I'm thinking sept/oct for fall as well. Btw man this trip is adding up haha. Fun ball-parking the budget at first, till things start getting specific..yikes! 😅

coffeeonice & @jacks605 y'all are brave. Disney intimidates me without kids, let alone 2 ( or more)! I'm waiting for my parents to suggest they take their grandsons. My dad is a sucker when it comes to his grandkids.

Hugs to everyone dealing with feeding issues. I strongly believe feeding babies is one of the most difficult and stressful acts of parenting.
We had a nice NICU visit with C today. We got there late because of other errands we had to get done, but we got to give him a bath, I nursed, and he napped on us for a while. It was sweet. They took his IV out, and the NICU doc is hoping C will be released by week's end. FX that happens.
And C is pretty much out of newborn diapers. We'll probably use what we have at home (one box) and dig into the size ones. FX he still fits in his newborn size take-home outfit when they discharge him...
Honestly, I'm so jealous of all of you. Enjoy every minute. I definitely took those early days with J for granted. They were hard (sometimes really hard), but I'm missing them a lot right now...

ls2012 Sorry that you're dealing with hip issues for LO.
wildflower810 I don't think its weird. Whatever works for you. I just like that it tells me side to start with, etc.
oldbaylover1024 You're right- it's important for all of us to remember that even though these first days and weeks are hard and exhausting- we are so lucky to be home with our babies. Hopefully C will be home ASAP.

oldbaylover1024 hang in there!! It sounds like you had a great visit and you'll still get those amazing days at home together, he'll just be a little older and a little wiser when when they happen 😊 I hope they are sooner rather than later!
Yes, I am indeed still here. And yes I know that walking and spicy food and sex are supposed to start labor. Bye Felicias
Avoid eye contact whenever possible! Or preemptively ask them an obnoxious question before they can say anything. You have my sympathies. I hate chit chat even on good days.
oldbaylover1024 - that is yet another great update! How big is he now?
He's 8 lbs 1.5 oz as of today's weigh in. He was 8 lbs 5.6 oz at birth, but he couldn't eat for the first 4 days after birth. And he's grown about half an inch, so he's about 21.5" now.
They think he actually had a very VERY mild surfactant deficiency, which is super rare in full-term babies. Do not Google this deficiency. Seriously. Just know that when they suggested it last weekend as a possibility, the NICU docs could barely look us in the eye. But it's only a guess based on his most recent chest x ray. Luckily, our NICU is closely affiliated with John Hopkins University where the nation's leading surfactant expert is based. Our NICU consulted the expert and shared C's case info, got treatment advice, etc. #BLESSED
We most likely will never know what was really wrong with him. All we know is he'll be a totally normal baby in the end with no increased risks for any lifelong issues. #DOUBLEBLESSED

Thank God he will be healthy oldbaylover1024 You have done an amazing job so far, and he has too! It's not easy by any means being separated from your baby...you are strong! Hope he comes home by weeks end, and you get to love him up full time.
R is 8 lbs and she hasn't fit in newborn diapers ever! Her thighs are chubby! But she fits with space in newborn clothes-so I'm sure you'll get a few weeks in those newborn clothes!

flyinghorses6 - C is kinda skinny and long. I'm thinking I can use up the newborn diapers (FX). And thank goodness we didn't buy any clothes. God bless hand me downs!

Our RE visited us in the hospital right before we left to say hi and meet the baby. That made me all emotional. What a journey it has been.
S has not been interested in nursing since we came back. She's latched on multiple times only to fall asleep a moment later. I'm waiting for my husband to come home to help me figure out the breast pump. But I am pretty concerned since she has only had 2 wet diapers so far today.

Can we talk about how prodromal labor is the thing from hell. I timed ctx at 2.5 minutes apart for an hour this afternoon... then poof, nope, JUST KIDDING.
I told H with DS1 that I wasn't going to believe I was in labor until I had a head hanging out of me, and I'm feeling the same way right now. I thought it would be easier with kid #2. Wrong.
Oh, and I have had THREE people due around me post on Fb today that their babies were born.
notagoddess sometimes it is hard work getting them to stay awake! I'd recommend stripping her down, tickling her, and using a wet washcloth to keep her alert.
Post by musicallyinclined on Feb 20, 2017 18:26:37 GMT -5
notagoddess, both DS1 & DS2 needed to be stripped down (wnd usually have a diaper change), and tickled/annoyed some to wake them up enough to eat. Sorry baby isn't making it easy.
Post by oldbaylover1024 on Feb 20, 2017 18:38:08 GMT -5
notagoddess - Another vote for keeping baby awake. Stripped down or tickled works. Our LC recommended burping C to wake him up, then relatch. It's common. FX you find a wakeup tactic that works.
ETA: And isn't it awesome to come full circle with your RE/OB?! That's a special moment

I had a baby yesterday! El.izabeth Ma.rie was born at 11:53pm 2/19. She's 7lbs 14oz and 20" long. She put me through 20 hours of labor and I ended up getting an epidural after about 18 hours because I was only 6cm. And then I went from 6 to 10cm in an hour and fifteen. And pushed for 15 minutes. I got a second degree tear because she flew out but other than that I'm doing good! She's amazing and we're so in love
