Fwiw, I think a canister handles better than an upright. They have foldable handles to carry them from room to room and they just roll around following you like R2D2.
+1 Miele. My husband researched a lot because of our house being old and having lead dust. We had an Electrolux and switched to Miele. The bags last a pretty long time and I can order them on Amazon with subscribe & save.
I want a vacuum with a bag We get soooooooo much dust here that gets carried in on shoes or makes it thru Windows doors and ac filter. The wind is almost always blowing from the farmers fields and dry river bottom and desert and that wind blows right to my house
the canister ends up filled with the super fine dust. It packs in the canister very tight even with emptying it every room. So you have to empty the canister and bang it on the side of the outdoor trash can snd end up with your arm or face if you dare look at it covered in fine silty sandy dirt.
I think my house was tons cleaner and my allergies tons better when I had a vacuum with a bag. After typing that Now I'm going to go shopping for a new vacuum
I like our Dyson and I don't find it to be heavy, but of course cannot recall which model it is (it's probably 5 years old and we've never had an issue with it).
I did notice the dog smell someone mentioned so now I just put a cotton ball with some lemon oil on it in the canister when vacuuming.
I got wrapped up in an infomercial for a new vacuum that looks even better but lucky for my wallet that I forgot what kind it is.

This is an awesome idea and I will try it out next time I vacuum.
I hear wonderful things about the Kirby line. They're worth a look IMO.
Ugly and heavy AF. And really pricey even if you really lowball the sales people your husband let into the house. We got one for $700 that way, but I would have preferred a dyson. At least for having a prettier vacuum. And one I don't have to watch a YouTube video for to remember how to attach the hose accessory.

I had a Dyson Animal but it was horrible for the stairs. So heavy and annoying. I have a shark rotator lift away and it transforms into so many different vacuums! The first time my dad saw it he asked if it was a rocket ship. I definitely recommend
+1 to everything you said (except my dad didn't come over and call it a rocket ship LOL). Same at our house.
