It's Tuesday, right? Here's my tmi and looking for advice:
DD was throwing up all day Saturday and once Sunday afternoon. We kept her home from daycare yesterday. She took an extra nap and had 5 runny (but not diarrhea) stools. I stayed home again with her today. Back down to one nap but she's eating less and very slowly and still has runny stools. She is clearly uncomfortable.
I called the doc and the nurse said it could take a couple weeks for the stools to return to normal. As long as they are contained in a diaper or she makes it to the toilet, she's OK to go to daycare. We'll see how the teachers feel about that tomorrow.
I guess my question is is there anything we can do for her? She just recently potty trained and is terrified of having an accident so spends a lot of time on the toilet. I feel horrible. I am going to tell her teachers to put her in a diaper if she asks because I don't know how comfortable she is sitting on the toilet so much at school.
Any experience? Will her appetite return before the loose stools are over? We've never experienced this prolonged illness with other toddler tummy viruses. Thankfully she's in good spirits and still a little chatterbox.
I would say stay away from dairy except maybe a little yogurt for the probiotics. BRAT diet which is bananas rice apple sauce and toast. They're slightly Constipating foods so supposed to pull the stool together. And push tons and tons of fluids. Stay away "p" foods- pears prunes peas because those help you go which she doesn't need right now. I think everyone is different on when their appetite comes back. But you can go days without much food as long as your drinking fluids. Hope she feels better soon.

becole Tried your trick and poked a bigger hole in the nipple and he took two ounces of formula after draining both boobs. Let's hope it translates to a little bit more sleep!
Daycare actually has a pretty good system down with the syringe lol. She took 3-3oz feedings today. I just don't know what to attribute the 10 night wake ups to at this point.
Right there with you with all the wakeups. Hopefully it gets better for all of us.

sanibel21, thanks for the response. She had a little bit of Greek yogurt and a banana for breakfast. That's the most she's eaten at one time in 5 days. I forgot to tell her teacher to offer extra water but I did tell her no milk so hopefully DD drinks more water at meal times. Lunch today is "peanut butter" sandwiches so that's perfect for her diet.
