@dancerspose It sound like mastitis. I would call whoever can call in an RX for you asap. I've had mastitis a few times and you want to be on abx as soon as possible so it clears up. Keep pumping and nursing as much as you can! I hope you feel better.
I'm stopping BFing even earlier than last time. As a matter of time and health management, I think I'm in a better place to be mom to all of my kids without BFing.
dancerspose +1 to call now. The one time I had it, it came on quick and I was flattened until antibiotics kicked in. My OB called in a prescription based on my description only--no office visit needed.
@loces2shop4shoes I don't remember last time. I've been trying to get out with these LOs for days, but I can't drive, I can't carry even onevof them in a car seat, and it's going to takes some finagling to get them into our car since the seat belt design does not work with the car seat bases. Basically, I can't go anywhere without MH until restrictions are lifted about 4 weeks out (2.5 weeks left).

loves2shop4shoes - I was out with J when she was about 3 weeks old. It was nicer weather (May) so that made it easier v. winter. With the c section and MH being back at work, I couldn't really go anywhere for a few weeks. I would take her out in the stroller for little walks or just to sit outside, but it was a few weeks before we ventured on too many errands.
Now with C I have a feeling we'll stay put a little bit at first since he's been in the NICU. Plus, I think lots of folks will be coming to visit at home. I'm already drafting a text about hand washing, no vaping/smoking before coming over and touching him, and wearing masks if people even suspect the tiniest cold. I kind of dread letting family visit... He's been so sick... Pray for me.

loves2shop4shoes we took Z with us to buy buy baby when she was like 10 days old. I figure with all the animals in our house and trips to disease infested doctors offices it's harmless. Plus I'm of the "exposure is good for the immune system" school of thought. We didn't pass her around or anything. She sat in her stroller the whole time. I am waiting until she's probably around 6 weeks before taking her to visit work, but only because I work in a hospital.

littleredfishshellbellnomnomEmMilAlly thanks. I ended up calling both the birth center (cause they were open) and talking to a midwife and calling my on call doc. And yes both agreed sounds like the start of mastitis.
The midwife said to hydrate and pump/nurse like crazy, take lots of vitamin c, and call my OB tomorrow if it's not getting better. The OB said most of the same, but also to take Tylenol to try to get ahead of the fever that's certainly coming. She did also call in the antibiotic but suggested I wait until tomorrow to start it. The only reason I'm considering it is because it's a long course so if I can avoid if obviously like to. I honestly feel like crap though. The OB said to pump every two hours even through the night so that will be fun. It's also really crappy timing because DH will be gone for drill all day tomorrow and Friday and working his 24 hour shift on Saturday so I'm on my own.

dancerspose have you felt any possible clogs? I always got clogs, and the hit by a bus flu symptoms that accompany mastitis, but was able to get rid of the clog quick enough to not need antibiotics. But if you can't find one, I'd def call and see what they say. The sooner the better for treating any breast clogs or infections, hope you feel better! 😬
I am starting my maternity leave tomorrow too. Praise the lord! FX that this kid doesn't come too late because I can barely afford the 6week leave I have, and leaving tomorrow gives me officially 6 weeks and 2 days of leave, plus the one week of spring break, so it will feel like 7 weeks and 2 days. Sigh
For those wondering, Z is definitely no longer backed up. She very nicely waited until DH was home from work this morning, and she was laying on him, to release two days worth of saved bowel movements. Managed to destroy her clothes, and with all the poo the pee went through everything onto DH, HA! Of course, I had just out her in clean clothes and started a load of laundry, figures.
We had called the pediatrician and were waiting for a call back when it happened. But according to the doc it's totally normal to go a few days without a bowel movement.
DS1 went up to 10 days without pooping as an EBFed newborn. Then he'd let it alllllll go. Thankfully our cloth diapers contained it every time.
Now I'm remembering newborn poop smell and want to smell it again. Crazy? Weird? Or just better than toddler poo? Idk.

SO much better than toddler poop. I'd take newborn poop any day!

wildflower810 ha glad I'm not the only one that likes/doesn't mind the smell of ebf poop. My husband tries to change all of the ebf poop diapers that he can so he can avoid changing the solid food/toddler poop diapers.

No, couldn't feel any clogs, and I do a lot of hand expressing whole pumping. But yup, hit by a bus flu symptoms describes it very well.
dancerspose is there anyone else who can come be with you? I've heard for mastitis you should be in bed and only nurse or pump.
Ugh really? No, unfortunately I don't have any family close by or friends who don't work.
Then I'd have DH set you up for success -- bring diapers and everything you need for baby into your bed. Food for you, bottles of water, etc so you can rest as much as possible.

All of this. Seriously. You're not going to want to move.

I will most likely plant myself on the couch, where I'll be sleeping tonight since I'll be getting up every two hours, and I'm hoping DH will be home for lunch tomorrow so I'm only alone for a few hours at a time. Friday and Saturday will be s differebt story, but one day at a time.

Gosh, I'm so sorry. FX you can pump a ton and get some relief. Rest up as much as possible, as hard as it sounds. Huge hugs, friend.

Let me know if you need help. DH is working all weekend and I'm free on Friday after my OB appointment. Of course this is all dependent if little guy decides to make his appearance.
