I know I shouldn't complain about how tired I am to a group of women who have newborns, but... I am not sure how I'm going to function today. I woke up from contractions, stuffy nose, having to pee, more contractions... and then DS woke up at 4 for snuggles, and I said screw it. I'm just getting up. Of course now I'm nodding off in my chair. Maybe I will take a nap when F takes a nap today.
We have to go visit my great grandma today. I think that's all. Hopefully I don't go into labor while I'm there. Lol.

I'm up, morning ladies! Also without a newborn so I was able to get a decent stretch of sleep. No contractions here. I have a busy work day, my boss planned a "last minute" meeting since he saw me Monday and was like oh you haven't had the baby yet, perfect we all need to meet. Thanks, now I get to go endure all the your still pregnant comments. Last time I walked into one of these meetings, a high up man immediately yelled, "wow you got fat!" I know he was joking but seriously don't feel like seeing these people today. Hope everyone has a good day today!
We hit our 6 week growth spurt yesterday. My normally mellow dude was a total fuss pot. My baby tracking app tells me he spent 4.5 hrs on the boob. He was so unsettled last night I actually have gave him a few oz of pumped milk to finally get him to bed. He did give me his longest sleep stretch yet though (5hrs!). I remember the 6week spurt being the worst with DD too. Oye.

Not much planned for today. Nursing the baby while DH gets DD ready for daycare. Maybe baby will nap on me and I can sleep a little longer. shellbell good luck at the zoo. Hope it's lots of fun!
shellbell I was just thinking I would love to go to the zoo soon. Have fun!
We sent DD to the babysitter today and DH is still off so we're just hanging out at home with DS. Hoping I can get a few things done today like organizing the nursery. We've gotten so many clothes etc. since finding out we're team blue and it's just sitting in the glider waiting to be put away.
Second to last day of my H's paternity "leave." I put that in quotes because he's gone to the office and WFH every day lol. I think we'll take L and go out to lunch and pick up DS1 early from daycare since it's going to be amazing outside today.
I think the Zantac worked? He was up fussing the same amount but he did not seem to be in pain. FX this is the solution and he feels better! (And also that I don't have to give up dairy. Is that awful? That I'd rather give medicine than give up cheese? Pretty sure that's awful.)

EmMilAlly it's not awful to give medicine instead of depriving yourself of cheese. It's nice to have some say over your own body. Glad the Zantac seems to be working!

Baby is still eating all night and refusing to sleep anywhere but next to me. However DS1 has been waking up after 7 since we brought baby home which is awesome. I got some carter's coupons in the mail yesterday and I have to keep telling myself we don't need anything right now. But spring clothes are so so cute.

After E's 3 hour meltdown last night I gave her a good long feeding. Then she slept for three 3-4 hour increments in a row. So sleep was great last night but today I'm going to make sure I feed her a lot. We have weight goals to hit.

Marathon nursing sessions at night and first thing in the morning--but only 1 twenty minute nursing session last night. This baby is a dream in comparison to her sister. I feel so great, having had two solid chunks of sleep last night. My house is still a mess, I have no idea what meals will be made, and I've been in the same clothes for about 3 days....but I feel good!
And I got the sneak peak photos...I'll post a few here. PDQ I will poof tonight.
Already camped out on the couch with two smelly babies now sleep/eating. Both had clean diapers before we started and both babes have shat while nursing. Waiting for one to wake up so I can move. This was our day yams guessing today will be the same.
@ellabee - 3 week growth is not great...scared for the 6 week now!

flyinghorses6 such adorable photos! We're not doing pictures until Z will be 2 1/2 months old because that's when our wedding photographer will be in town visiting and doing session (she moved away). Also, I think we have that hedgehog swaddle too.

I had my midwife belly check yesterday. They scheduled me for two ultrasounds and NST's next week on mon/thurs, and induction is still Friday. Baby is now low and in a good position, so that's nice...but I still feel like I'll need the dang induction. At least I have some appts to break up the time between now and then.
zcookiemonster I hope your meeting is quick and painless😬 and that all unnecessary comments are kept to a minimum!
shellbell have fun at the zoo! Hopefully you're not too pooped after waking up so early. Or maybe said toddler will take a great nap afterwards 😊

I'm really glad there's some moms here who question changing their whole diet to appease baby's tummy. I didn't have any dietary restrictions nursing last time, but some of my friends were down to like gluten free bread and plain chicken and I'm thinking uhhh I don't think I'd survive that! But it just seems like a mom is expected to do it anyhow. I mean FX I don't have any issues, but I'll pry cut myself some slack on nursing if I need to overhaul my whole life to continue.

My toddler, who has slept soundly through the night for well over a year, has woken up crying/screaming at 3 am more nights than not the last week. Of course H (who is currently in the guest room) sleeps right through it, so I'm on motn duty as I have been since DS1 was a week old. Something is going to change because I cannot do two kids waking up by myself!

LTing for sympathies. My normally great sleeper has been awake motn for the last 2 weeks. I already told H he's on big kid duty as soon as the baby is born. I am not going to be awake all night long.

I am just so grumpy today. I am so glad we have somewhere to be and it's supposed to be sunny and warm later. FX my toddler is less toddlery today because I'm afraid my patience level is pretty low right now...
I'm sitting and pumping while S is hanging in the Mamaroo. I'm so relieved she likes that thing -- it was $$$ even secondhand. I also really like my pump, especially that it's battery operated and I can move while pumping. That came in handy when the hospital business office called and I had to go find my insurance ID card.

Yeah we got a new mamaroo and Z pretty much wants nothing to do with it...I'm hoping as she gets older she'll have more interest...

We had a difficult night last night. S had not been getting the required number of wet diapers even though I was feeding her every 2-3 hours, whenever she showed feeding cues. My milk just started coming in so I was hoping she'd hold over. But she started crying and became inconsolable and wouldn't latch on being so upset. I tried to pump so I could bottle feed her, but I wasn't able to get much under pressure. I broke down and found the sample of formula I kept and fed it to her. She immediately calmed down and went back to being an angel the rest of the night. She must have been really hungry
I fed her two bottles of formula and one bottle of expressed breast milk overnight. My goal for today is to pump after every feed so I can build supply and have her get enough breast milk during the day at least.
I'm majorly resenting the breast feeding education I got from classes and DVDs. They only present the best-case scenarios, leaving you completely helpless if the reality is anything other than perfect.
Can I ask a dumb question? The babies sometimes stay awake and make feeding cues when they aren't satiated. Fine, we feed them more. But how will I know when they are ready to stay up longer for entertainment/play between naps? At what point do they stop the sleep/diaper change/eat/burp/sleep routine?
Also, when are you starting tummy time? Our doctor said now but we don't have many wakeful periods during which to try.
Re tummy time - having them lay on your chest/while on their belly counts for tummy time. Which is easy to do at this age
I can't remember re your other Qs. I think I need to download a baby app. I liked wonder weeks with DD1.

We're already realizing that a good amount of the gear we got will never be used. Like I got her a 0-3 sized Columbia snowsuit that was over $50, and it's way, way too big for her. It should fit around May or June... LOL.
