We have playgroup this morning (*internal groan*) and then we're meeting a friend of mine for lunch. None of these things I feel like doing. I'm feeling super hormonal for no reason today. Pregnancy is such a joy!
No plans to leave the house today so I'm planning on washing the rest of the hand me down clothes for the baby. We finally finished the closet in his room last night and moved the desk that was in there to a different room so I feel like we're in the home stretch now. DH is going to use the next couple days while it's nice to paint dresser. I'll be excited to have it done! Unfinished rooms make me nuts.

I was awake a lot last night with bad gas pains. I just couldn't get comfortable. I ended up sleeping on my side with a pillow between my legs because it kept all pressure off my stomach. I think this might be because of the iron I have to take now so it will probably be an ongoing problem for the next 9 weeks. Oh joy.
It's a dreary, rainy day here today. I know I need to find time to work out this week, but between work and appointments (taxes tonight) I just don't have the energy.
I still need to go through all the clothes we got at the shower and figure out what we still need.
DD slept until 8:45(!) this morning. I needed the extra sleep too, so I'm glad she let me have it. Anyone else having crazy horrible nightmares?
We have a home visit from the school today, and then grocery shopping this afternoon. I need to reign in my impulse purchases - I still haven't eaten any of the bazillion pounds of chocolate I brought home last week. Oops
Ick, I'm sorry sleepymonkey, digestive issues suck, especially when you know the cause but can't do anything about it. I'm at that stage where you can see movement externally, alien belly is so weird.
Wednesdays are pizza day at kiddo's daycare. It's nice to have one day where I don't have to make lunch. So looking forward to him going to kindergarten where he can just have the school lunch. Of course, then I'm making lunches for kiddo #2...

Good morning! We slept in til like 7:30 so we are still waking up. I have MOPS in less than an hour so I need to start getting ready. Thankfully H hasn't left for work yet so I'm going to get him to help get DS ready to go.

Heading out soon to get my haircut. Starting to feel super anxious that we have nothing done to prepare for this baby. We have to finish our loft so we can move our bedroom up there before we can bring in any baby stuff. My baby stuff is spread out over 4 different places and it is really starting to stress me out. And of course there is nothing I can do to help at this time to move things along.
I can't believe how fast May is approaching. Starting to really feel end of pregnancy uncomfortable which feels like it is starting way to early.
Mom of the year here....rushed DD1 to ballet last night to then realize that it was the off week between sessions. Then I put DD2 down just in time for DD1 to open the car door into her face....tears, blood..torn frenulum....uhhh.....and while I was trying to calm DD2 down I didn't buckle her all the way in before driving home...thank goodness it's not that far..... commence downward emotional hormonal spiral
luckily it's a new day...the sun is shining and I got some sleep last night.

Morning everyone! sleepymonkey I'm with you on the gas pains! I have found a heating pad to be magical! Last night I got super nauseous again but didn't throw up. I took a zantac, had some ginger ale, and eventually went to sleep. I have no idea what is going on with my digestive system but I'm not happy. And of course I can't help but wonder if there's something more going on that I should be worried about.
I have a lunch date today with 2 professors that I'm working with. It should be fun but I'd rather stay in my pajamas lol. Also in line with above I don't know what foods to eat lately that will sit best in my system.
The weather here has been amazing lately so my goal is to get outside walking the dogs! FX spring is really here!

heartangelsmama I'm with you on feeling like we've done nothing. We're constantly like 2 steps forward 1 step back and the nursery still isn't close to being ready.
icedtea yeah energy is hard! But getting taxes done feels great! Lol. We got ours done early for the first time in years and it felt amazing!

chknma, sorry you had a rough day. I hope today is a good one!
I want to do taxes. But the accountant for H's business is slow AF and doesn't get his shit done until the last minute. I need to find a new accountant.

I'm starting to try to figure out a diet plan for after baby boy is born and I'm starting to panic. I know I shouldn't jump into anything right away but I feel like I need to have some sort of plan. I haven't gained much during pregnancy so I think I'll lose that weight pretty quickly but I have about 50 lbs to lose after that.
Post by rosesquared on Feb 22, 2017 10:44:07 GMT -5
sleepymonkey both DW and I lost 30 pounds on weight watchers before I got pg. Tracking points is annoying but it totally works! The nice thing is you can cheat on the weekends and still lose weight! I've done almost every diet known to man and WW is definitely a good way to eat healthy but also eat what you want and lose weight.

I got my first couple of cloth diapers in the mail yesterday and I'm super excited.
SIL got me a basket full of useful things for the baby, including wet bags and cloth wipes and such. I've got to touch up the paint in the nursery but really need to start organizing stuff in there.

rosesquared, I lost 70 lbs before I got pregnant with DD - 30 lbs using South Beach and 40 lbs using WW. Then I got pregnant, gained 50 lbs and after DD was born, gained more weight. I tried to go back on WW because I loved it before but I am not a fan of the new plan. I think the old plan worked better for me but of course they don't give you the option of doing a different plan. My biggest issue is having time to make healthy meals. I basically have about an hour to make dinner, eat and spend some time with DD before she starts getting ready for bed. Throw in a second child and I'm panicking. I looked in to Nutri-system and Jenny Craig and holy crap they're expensive. But I definitely need to do something because I can't continue to carry all this extra weight.

sleepymonkey I have also done South Beach and agree that both that and ww require so much cooking time. I've also done Jenny Craig and Nutrasystem and what I did like about them was the simplicity. I didn't like Jenny Craig as much only because I didn't like the weekly check ins cause my woman was super annoying. But if I'd liked her it probably would have been better. FX you find something that works!
Also just curious, what don't you like about the new ww plan?

sleepymonkey, do you have time to meal prep on the weekends? This is the only saving option for me during the week....I do 99.9% of the cooking so if anyone has a problem with eating leftovers..too bad
I try to prep 1-2 things on Sunday to prepare for the week....like this past Sunday I made 3 lbs of turkey meatballs and will use them throughout the week....or will cook ground beef or chicken and then use it in different dishes...oven roast a big bag of broccoli from Costco, etc..if needed will use the steamer microwave bags to quick steam veggies during the week....and am loving my new Instant Pot for quick meals.
I've also started prepping the kids breakfast/lunch food for the week...dividing snacks into baggies, making big batch of hard boiled eggs, mini muffins, etc.
I'm intrigued by WW. I've always heard good things about it, and I need something to get my eating back on track post-baby. I've gotten some really bad habits. I haven't weighed myself recently, but last I checked I had gained ~25 lbs so far, and I'm not even in 3rd tri yet.
I know that's not a terrible amount in the greater scheme of things, but I have a lot of guilt because I know I could be eating better and working out and I just..don't.

chknma, I think I'm going to have to start meal prepping on the weekends. Because we both work full time, weekends are typically for running errands and trying to just spend time as a family but I think meal prep of healthy options is going to need to be a priority. We are already older parents - we need to make sure our health is on track to be around a long time for our kids!
Regarding weight loss- I liked the TIU workout plan and meal book for helping after DS1 was born. I also found good meals in the Jillian michael's cook book and would use her workouts as well.

icedtea, WW is great and a lot of people have great success on it. I think the new plans focuses more on better food choices so that is always a good thing. When I lost weight, the best thing for me was to start with South Beach diet because that really taught me the right things to eat and weaned me off of bad habits like too much sugar and white flour. But then WW was great because it is so good at teaching portion control.
Speaking of Jillian Michaels, her pregnancy book has been pretty awesome.
Does she have kids? I don't know much about her. I like her workout videos.
She and her wife have one son, I think. Her wife (Heidi) carried him, so her book is from the perspective of a partner, but I still found it really useful. The workouts in it are good, and she has some solid recipes (I can't use most of them because meat, but they look good). She also does a lot of "love yourself, you're pregnant, stop beating yourself up for not being superwoman," which I appreciated.

I'll have to check the library for it, what's the name of it? We had a speaker talk about meal planning today at MOPS. I'm pretty good at it. Most of her samples all had meat in it so I guess I'll just continue what I'm doing. I do struggle with buying too much and then some of it going bad which is always sad.
