Busy day here. Need to drop some paperwork off at the bank (never did it yesterday). Drop the truck off for an oil change. It's right next to an indoor playground so I told DD we go could play there while we wait. Back home for lunch, drop DD off at preschool. I have an appointment with my doctor to check out a few moles on my back, and then DS has his 4 month immunizations.

My guy was up every 3 hours for a week and then the last two nights he was only up once. I guess it's all a crapshoot from here right?

DD was up a bunch this morning. She usually only wakes up 1-2, but last night from 3:30 on she was up every 45 minutes. I am le tired.
It is DS' 2nd birthday today! I can't believe my baby is already two😭I also was lucky enough to get a nice dose of the terrible twos this morning. A nice 30 minute meltdown over nothing. Give me all the coffee today.

I think the sleep regression has hit the Potato house. G went in at 9:30 last night, and woke up screaming at 11 and 2. It took nearly 45 minutes both times to calm him down and get him back to sleep. Needless to say, neither MH nor I are in the best of moods today. N was up before 6, so I dealt with him to let MH sleep a little more. G woke up at 7 all smiles, as he does.

MH texted me on my way to work to tell me that we lost power. I'm quietly freaking out about my frozen milk stash. Hopefully it won't be out too long. There is some work going on in my office that is super loud. Between being tired and the noise, I can feel a headache coming on. Tonight, MH has a meeting so I'll be doing bedtime solo. I also need to do some cleaning at some point.

Realizing I was mistaking DS' more frequent wakeups as sleep regression the last few weeks. I think it has official hit, unfortunately at the same time we decided to do arms out. DS wakes up every 45-90 minutes and he just does not go back down easily like he use to. He cried for like an hour at one point and I gave up and let him comfort nurse to get him to bed again.

My milk supply is tanking. I made some lactation cookies and have committed myself to drinking more of that foul tea (I hate licorice flavors). I am pretty sure the culprit is the fact that I find it hard to pump at work since I need to be up and about so much.

DD2 was up but took a binky at 1, and then up and ate at 5, and went back down until 7. I'm pretty happy with that. Still experimenting with no zoloft milk. My stash is gone already. The best laid plans right?
We all have colds so no plans. Trying to mix up the activities around the house and balance kid play time with adult house chores. Gonna crochet during naps. I've made 3 blankets, 2 of which have some flaws, so I'm working out the kinks as I go.

My head cold is progressively getting worse. This is probably the slowest cold I have ever gotten. It's so annoying.

I have my GYN annual exam this afternoon. Fun times. I wish I could just go home afterwards, but my boss is a giant douchebag, so I'll have to come back afterwards just to work for an hour (or less, depending on how efficiently the doctor's office is running) and leave.

Just pumping at work. I'm tired but only 2 more days until DH gets home. I'm jealous because where he travels is only an hour from where I grew up so he's having pizza with my Dad, sister, niece and nephew tonight.

It is raining so much here. I hate driving in the rain, but think I am going to run to Target anyway to go and get my camera I want. Our towns big festival is this weekend and I want to be able to take pictures. I wish the rain would slow down a bit. Ugh!

Sleep. We all need it. At this point, I'm waiting on becole to start the Sleep Training Drinking Thread that was promised. That's what I need.

We had a rough morning. MH and I got up later than usual, so it set back my whole getting ready routine. The boys were awake before I finished, DS1 didn't want to go to school, and DS2 needed an outfit change and breathing treatment before we left. We got to daycare about 45 minutes later than normal. 😳 I ran into the city to get fitted for my lab coat for work, so at least that's done. But holy AM traffic. Then I made a Sam's run. I'm starving and going to change back into sweats ASAP. Lots of cleaning and organizing on the agenda today. At least it's still nice enough to open the windows for a bit.

Happy birthday to your little dude adouces06! The year of 2 is a tough one...I've heard 3 can be worse. It wasn't for us (with DS1) but DS2 doesn't turn 3 til May, so we'll see how he is. Hopefully 2 isn't all that bad

adouces06, Happy Birthday to your little man! He sounds like DS1 when he turned 3. It was like a switch was flipped that day and he turned into a defiant monster.

smallpotato, I'm paranoid about losing my freezer stash to a power outage. We had an incident while I was pumping with DD where part of our house lost power. It was strange and ended up being an issue with the buried line between the utility's box and our house. But until we knew for sure what the issue was, I was concerned we could lose power to the whole house. The deep freeze was plug into an outlet that didn't have power. I ran an extension cord from a working outlet to the deep freeze but I was up all night checking to make sure the freezer's orange light was still on. Glad your power outage was short-lived.

At work today - pretty busy b/c I am covering for a co-worker who is getting married this weekend, so she's out for the next week and a half as well.

My boss just asked me if I would like him to recommend me for his position because it appears he is getting the one he applied for! This is AWESOME news! Especially after my rejection from the other place earlier this week. I'm not a shoe-in but I think I am definitely a STRONG contender for it.

He goes down fine, it's the motn feed that needs dropped. I need to find out if DS1 will wake up with the crying. He has white noise on but idk.

Omg it's so nice out. I just took the girls out for a walk in the double stroller. I am so out of shape but it felt so good to go do something physical and be outside. Holy crap.
I am all over thw place on sleep training because of the worry about the possible zoloft effect. I can't let her cry if I think the zoloft is causing her to be upset overnight. Once I figure it out for sure in a couple weeks I'll reassess. I guess I did some slight sleep training for naps before starting it

We also need DS to drop the MOTN feeding(s). He's inconsistent. Sometimes he'll wake up at 12:30 and 3am (or something like that) and then other times lately he'll wake up at just 3:30 or 4am. Our pedi recommended waiting until he's 6 months old to sleep train (she is totally okay with Ferber/CIO and even recommends is, which is why I love her), so we're waiting another month. We're definitely going to do it on a weekend because he is SO LOUD that he will wake the entire house up. We already let him CIO, if needed, for naps and when he goes to bed, knowing he's not hungry, so I feel like we already have a good start. Sometimes he'll still drink 4-6 oz in the middle of the night, but sometimes he only drinks an ounce or two, so I know he's not really hungry when that happens.

I'm (generally) the same. Right now, I feel like our bedtime process is fine (except last night, wtf) but we need to work on naps and I'd eventually like to drop the MOTN feed, less worried about that. So I'll need a day drinking partner. Good news is that he'll be in daycare 5 days a week soon, so the day drinking will be on a weekend, so acceptable, right?

I'm lucky that my babe is a great napper and puts himself to sleep for naps. He just doesn't cry. He either scoots around and talks to himself or goes to sleep. Both of which I can easily ignore without alcohol.
But my first... CIO at night translated to naps during the day. It was an amazing difference. He just understood- oh- I'm supposed to sleep right now and moms not going to help. He was older though.

ETA: but I'm always up for wine.

erien22846, I think I shared this story before, but N was born 3 months before Superstorm Sandy hit. I had over 400 ounces of milk frozen in our spare freezer. We lost power for 3 days from the storm, and MH discovered all the milk had thawed by the time he got home from work on the Wednesday after the storm (I was at my mom's with N riding out the storm). I bawled when he told me about it. Every time we lose power, even if it's for a short time, it takes me back to that. We do have a generator now, so that helps the anxiety a little bit.

I need to figure out what is going on with G and sleep. If he wakes up in the middle of the night (say, between midnight and 4 or so), I won't feed him. After 4, I'll feed him and put him back down. Luckily, N sleeps like a rock once he's asleep, so he is not waking up when G does. We all shared a room at my mom's at Christmas, and N slept through all of G's crying overnight. N was a good sleeper and rarely woke up overnight to eat once he hit 2 or 3 months. He was bottle fed with breast milk, though, so I don't know if that makes a difference. If situations like last night keep occurring, we'll have to assess and decide what we're going to do. MH and I both get snippy when we don't get enough sleep, and it's not good right now.

I'm never sure if I should feed DS2 MOTN. I usually try the paci a few times, then feed him if that doesn't work. He will definitely eat at those times, but I think he will just eat whenever boob or bottle is there.

Maybe I'll try feeding him earlier after getting home to give a longer gap between that feeding and nighttime feed so he fills up more.

becole you can sip wine and feel sorry for me. I'm pretty sure I'll need hard liquor for this kid. The persistence is strong. Sorry for him my tolerance for shenanigans is low (he can ask his brother), but a coping mechanism must still be had.

I am so bad about just sticking a boob in every time she cries at night. Which I know is creating a bad association and why she's waking up so much. I just need my tired middle of the night self to listen instead of taking the easy way out.

Also she can roll and I'm still putting her arms in. I really need to quit being so lazy.
