Need some quick feedback. I'm hosting an award ceremony/dinner for work. It's in a restaurant and we have two private rooms. I have 26 attendees. I can either set up 3 round tables of 8/9 people, or one giant square table of 26. The event is primarily a normal dinner, but at the end I will present attendees with awards and they will need to come up and accept and have their picture taken. Which set up would you prefer as an attendee?
I could go either way. As a shy attendee, I'd be more comfortable at a smaller table. But I know my boss specifically has me arrange people as one big group for these things because she wants the comradery and whatnot.
The problem with the smaller round tables is that some people will inevitably have to sit at a table with people they do not like as much. I think this is a little more avoidable at one big table (easier to distance yourself from certain people), unless you are one of the last few arriving at the table. ETA-- Unless the people don't really know each other well, then I guess that would be a non-issue.
