DD's party is next week. The venue offers a make your own ice cream Sunday option ($2-5/person I think? Can't remember exactly and wine is getting in the way of me looking). DD wants ice cream, so that's happening. And assuming they'll let us bring our own, cake is happening - there will be more than enough for everyone. (If we can't bring our own cake, the question is moot.)
That being said.. do I need to plan on ice cream for everyone? I don't mind doing it, but I don't want to buy 35 ice creams and waste a ton. But I also don't want to be like the last party @helenahandbasket was at and have disappointed guests.
Also, less important. DD's party is at 1, food at 2. Kind of an awkward time for lunch. Should we still plan on full amounts of pizza? 2 pizzas come with the package for our 10 bowlers and normal calculations suggest 6 additional pizzas for the additional 20-25 people there.
Can I skip the veggie platter assuming no one really wants veggies? (Well keep the fruit platter since DD doesn't eat pizza.)
While I was ready to grab the pitchfork over the birthday where @helenhandbasjet didn't get dessert, I feel differently here. Make your own sundae seems like a party activity, and I wouldn't be offended if it were kids only if there was also cake for everyone.
I'd skip the veggie platter. I'd still do the full amount of pizza. Everyone always has more room for pizza.
At minimum, all the kids should get to make a sundae. As long as there's cake for adults, I think you're OK to let them skip. Ideally, I'd like to offer to the adults who want to make a sundae to let them make one though.
I think you're good to get the regular amount of pizza and skip the veggie tray.
I agree with the others, I'd go with the usual amount of pizza - for that party time I'd just plan on giving my kid a heartier morning snack before coming. Also agree on sundaes - enough for the kids, parents should be happy enough with pizza and cake.
1. Normal amounts of pizza. 2. Sundaes only for kids, cake for all 3. No veggie platter. But if you could do parents' pizzas early so they get to eat while kids are bowling, I think that would rock.

Skip the veggie platter.
I think as long as there are enough sweets for all -either cake or ice cream you are good.
I'd add a few more pizzas. My pizza calculations were waaayyyy off for DD's party so maybe instead of 6 more, split the difference and order an extra 3.
I agree with the others on what to offer. I think the timing of the food shouldn't affect your decisions too much. Regardless of timing, I always see pizza being devoured at birthday parties.
Afternoon parties here don't include a meal. I'd skip pizza in favor of ice cream - my child would eat pizza (after having eaten lunch) then force down the ice cream and spend the evening sick. Where we have had parties that come with a cake, we just ask them to hold it and take it home. (I bake for parties but am not turning down "free" cake). I'd do the same with the pizza. Pick it up at the end and voila, party day dinner.
My daughter's birthday party was during a similar time frame and very few kids ate pizza. Our package came with 2 larges, and we took home more than 1 large pizza. For DD2s birthday a few weeks later we did light snacks, cake and ice cream and that worked out really well.
I'd make sure there was enough cake for everyone and ice cream for all the kids.

Do you have to order pizza in advance or is the pizza place in the bowling alley? I'm always afraid I'll run out of food so I tend to over-order. I'd get like 2 more pizzas and if it looks like people are eating pizza I'd quickly order more before people get seconds.
The party planner has been non-responsive. If we call them directly, they say email the party planner. If we email the party planner, it goes into a black hole..
