How's everything going? Eh. Days are going well but nights suck. BF/supplement bottle just takes so much time.
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share? Trying to figure out how to get two babies on a similar sleep schedule at night so we get a few hours of sleep.
How's your postpartum recovery going? Good. I think my body is telling me to slow down again because my incision is not hurting but I feel it again...KWIM?
GTKY: what's something small you do to cheer yourself up when you're having a hard day? Glass of wine, hot shower, quick neck massage
How's everything going? Pretty good. We are in the throes of Leap 1 and the 6 week growth spurt. So w is attached to my boob pretty much all day. Weaning off the bottle and working on his latch.
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share? His personality is starting to come out.
How's your postpartum recovery going? Really well! Have my 6 week check up on Wednesday and just waiting to get cleared for exercise and stuff.
GTKY: what's something small you do to cheer yourself up when you're having a hard day? Watch reality tv and have a drink lol
How's everything going? Most of our latch issues are under control. H has become much more efficient - down to 10-15 min per side, down to 7 feeds a day, seems full afterwards and is peeing/pooping lots etc. And he seems to be settling into a predictable routine. So I thought we were doing ok. Until his 2mo check up today...
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share? H has dropped from 40th to 23rd percentile and his dr is concerned. She mentioned this can happen with reflux babies but he seems so much happier now than he was before the meds kicked in. I did notice he wasnt chunking up but he's growing in length noticibly so i thought he was ok. He weighed in at 11lb1oz (7lb 14oz at birth) and she set us a target of 12lb 8oz in a month. That seems huge to be still.looking for an oz a day? Should I be waking/feeding him more often? Worried about a supply issue (weighed feeds show 3.5-5.5oz per session)? Any other suggestions?
How's your postpartum recovery going? I think I'm fully recovered now.
GTKY: what's something small you do to cheer yourself up when you're having a hard day? Play with the kids. Then drink a nice glass of wine once they're in bed...
Is it possible to go from not having much of a letdown to an overactive one? As W's latch gets better, it seems like the milk is coming out faster when he first latches.
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share? No real questions. Things are going pretty smoothly. Maybe that's what happens on he third baby.
How's your postpartum recovery going? Good for he most part. Bleeding seems to stop but then if I walk to much or pick up the big kids I start bleeding again. I don't remember this happening so much the last time.
GTKY: what's something small you do to cheer yourself up when you're having a hard day? Coffee! A huge cup of stein black coffee!
So, I guess breastfeeding is going really well! Had his 2 week appointment today. He was 7 lbs 3 ounces at birth l, 6 lbs 11 ounces at two days old, still 6 lbs 11 ounces at a week, he is now 7 lbs 15 ounces at two weeks old! He gained 1 lb 4 ounces in a week!!!
bazinga is your doc using the CDC growth charts or the WHO? WHO is for breastfed babies. Did he lose weight? Is he being weighed on the same scale at every visit?
Your weighted feeds show plenty of transfer. Breastfed babies take an average of 25oz in 24 hours. Typically for expressed milk, this translates to 1-1.5oz per hour since last feeding, generally topping out at 3.5-4oz per feed.
Diaper count still good? Baby happy, meeting other milestones? Nursing on demand? May be a bit of a wait and see how his growth pattern evens out as long as still gaining, still happy, still meeting milestones. No harm in the pedi following along a little more closely for now!

He's probably getting much much better at eliciting your letdown. And as your supply hasn't regulated yet, OALD is more common. So, yes, it's possible. Also your supply may be higher now that you're nursing instead of EP. Depends a bit on pump response / baby's nursing patterns & preferences.

Lots of gulping and spraying when he pops off. Lol.
Thanks for the information, especially the second article. The answer to all those questions is yes. As far as I can tell he's doing great in all areas except recent weight gain. He's not losing weight, just gaining very slowly. He has grown well in length though, 3" in 8 weeks and getting too long if not too chubby for his 3m clothes.
He's not been weighed on the same scale at the Drs office each time but I weigh him at least once a week at home and that's telling me he's only averaged about 3.5 oz a week for the last 3 weeks. So definitely at the low end of "normal". The slow down coincides with 2 things. One, he became much more efficient and was refusing the 2nd breast for a week or so and down to 6 or 7 feeds a day. I'm rousing him from naps at the 2hr mark to try and fit in at least 1 extra session a day now. And two, he started taking zantac for reflux - it's working but I've seen some anecdotes online that this can interfere with weight gain. Need to read more about this.
I agree this is a watch and wait thing so am trying not to stress too much. I can't help thinking that the growth spurt he had after we revised his tongue tie, which moved him up to the 40th percentile for a little while might have been misleading but we'll see over the next few weeks...
How's everything going? Seems to be going well, LO had gained a pound at his two week appointment
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share? A is starting to space out his feedings, not something to worry about if he has plenty of diapers and gaining weight right?
How's your postpartum recovery going? Rough. Slowly getting better.
GTKY: what's something small you do to cheer yourself up when you're having a hard day? Get a hug from DH or snuggle with my boys. Take a minute for myself to read or zone out.
