Finally getting around to this...
I went in for my 39 week appointment on a Wednesday and right away they wanted to send me into the hospital. My BP was high for me and I was sitting at 2cm. Before I could ask all my questions, the fire alarm went off. So I went into triage freaking out. It was fun. I was having contractions every 5 minutes but didn't dilate further. My labs came back ok and I decided not to induce even though it was offered. I wasn't ready.
Thursday was awful with contractions. I was miserable and crying by the end of the night cursing why I didn't do the induction. Then Friday I woke up and they were gone. So we spent most of the day prepping the house. I cleaned, caught up on laundry, all that good stuff. Then Saturday they came back and I was back to being miserable. I went to the pharmacy and took my BP and it was high. So I went home and went to bed but contractions kept me up until 11pm.
Sunday I woke up at 4 to more contractions but these felt different. I made it to 6 without waking up H. Then we waited. Around 10 they started to fizzle and I was so upset. At 11:00 I notice my feet swelling so I decided we were going in. Once we dropped the dog at daycare at 11:30, the contractions came back with a vengeance.
My BP was high and I was at 4cm so I was staying. My nurse was awesome and managed to get me a room with a tub and let me use it even though my BP was a little high. At some point my doula came in. Around 6pm I was checked and only at 5cm. So my doctor broke my water. H went to get dinner and we called him back eventually because things got rough. The baby shifted and we had to get her back into a safe position. I labored for what felt like forever and I couldn't take it anymore. I asked for the epidural and my doc came in to check me beforehand. I was only at 6cm. In went the epidural and 1 hour and 15 minutes later I was at 10cm.
I looked at the clock and figured miss would be born on the 20th. I was warned that FTMs usually push for 1-3 hours. I started pushing and the nurse told me to stop. They brought the doctor back right away and my beautiful baby was born after only 15 minutes of pushing. She just made Feb 19th with 7 minutes to spare!
I had a second degree tear but otherwise held up pretty well considering I was in labor for 20 hours. My little nugget is perfect! 7lbs 14oz, 20" long. She looks so much like H I can't stand it! I'm so in love
