My left boob is seriously slacking. I pump way less from it and when I feed LO, she gets fussy quicker on the left boob. I know it's normal to have one side produce more than the other. Is there a way to even things out? Any benefit from making left boob step up her game? Or "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"?
I found things varied quite a bit over time for me.
If the imbalance concerns you, you can start out more often on the dud side. Maybe start there for two feelings and then move to your stud side to finish things off. The third feeding, start on stud side. That might encourage things a bit.
Agree... My right started as the dud, then was the stud and now it's back to not producing as much. I always put LO on the dud first to try to even things out but it really doesn't matter much. There's always one side that isn't as awesome.
My left has always been kinda lame (still makes milk, but consistently less than my right). I try to start there more often, but it's just more difficult for LO to get a full meal from!
I have this too - lefty is a dud, righty is a rock star. Starting her off twice in a row on the dud side on the weekends does seem to help me though. Also, when I'm pumping at work, if I have a few extra minutes I'll stop pumping righty and give lefty a few extra minutes to see if I can encourage another let down or a little more production.
I had this too. Lefty was great and righty was a slacker. I also had a clogged duct in my right when DD was a few weeks old because she always latched better on the left.
Also, I use to track how long my feeds were in an app on my phone, so I was actually surprised one day when I looked at the "lifetime" stats and realized that DD spent over 15 hrs longer nursing on Lefty than Righty.
After that, I made an effort to use Righty more and now they're about equal in terms of output.
