The Name Game

We are agreeing on girls names, but a boy name is still evading us. We barely have maybe names. DH just told me last night that he wants a biblical name. At least we have that narrowed down.

Girls-Eleanor & Lucy

Boys- Wesley (I like the name but DD's name ends in -ley sound so it would be way too sing-songey)

Girl name: Madeline Elizabeth (named after the girl who lives in a boarding school with Miss Clavel & a good friend from college who happens to be getting married on my due date)
Boy name: ?? Hamilton (my dad's middle name)

We are screwed for girls names.
It took us until 35 weeks to name DD and it was the ONE name we agreed on.
Our boys name list is a mile long.

And we have no middles names for either since we used them both on DS and DD.

We're the opposite. I could name 100 daughters and love every name. H has a boy name that is near and dear to his heart for personal reasons that we plan to use. Beyond that we have no clue how to name a boy.

H has seemingly already named this one. He's sure it's a boy. His pick is Gavin which goes with DS's G name. He has also mentioned maybe Reagan for a girl. I'm sure we will have more discussions about it when we find out if it's a boy or girl.

We have decided that Wren is out for a boy, but if it is a girl her name will be Wren Claire.

I love girl names and could name all the girl babies, but boy names evade me...Even traditional boy names, I prefer for a girl. We will probably just wait to name a boy until we find out if it's going to be a boy. That way we don't have to stress unnecessarily if it is a girl.

For a girl we like Kennedy for first name... Had a middle name picked, my paternal grandmother's name but my mom pitched a fit. It made me mad so now I'm not sure what the middle name would be.

For a boy we both like Drake, but not sure on a middle name. We find out what it is in a week so we will have plenty of time to figure it out!

I really love Ada Diane for a girl (Diane after my MIL'S middle name. She has 5 granddaughters and not one with her name. Husband isn't on board...yet.

MH and I don't agree at all. We really have completely different styles when it comes to names. I like Walter MH is admittedly against it. He likes Gage and it's NMS.

I'm not even attempting to talk names. Our son was named an hour before they discharged us (and said he had to be named if we wanted to be discharged) and our daughter was the next day after she was born so we apparently suck at agreeing ahead of time.
So I'm sure it would be the same this time. And both names weren't even on my radar at all while pregnant.

I realized the other day that I think our girl name would suit a baby if it looks like DH, but not if it looks like me. Am I crazy? DH is Portuguese, so dark hair/eyes/skin and I'm half dutch, so blond/blue eyes/pale. I mean, I assume any baby will look like DH, but I could be wrong!

I think Jordana could still work if you have girl with a lighter complexion.

FWIW, just about everyone in my area is at least a little Portuguese, so we've got lots of blonde hair/blue eyed people walking around with super Portuguese names.

We still haven't really talked about names, but thoughts on the name Emily? Is it still super popular? Looks like it was #14 in 2016. It was H's great grandmother's name.

If we went with that for a girl, it'd be Emily Kathleen (mn for my mother).

Years ago we agreed on Connor for a boy, but I want to honor FIL with the mn, and Connor Ronald sounds weird.

I've only had two Emilys in 10 years, but it always seems to be in the top 15 on the social security administration list of names at the end of the year.

Confession of sorts:
We have a family acronym that we use made up of the first letter of each of our names. So, instead of signing a card "Love, The Smiths" we write "Love, FAKE" or #FAKEinWDW. The real acronym actually spells out a nonsense word, but it sounds like it could be a real word.

I'm kind of sort of legitimately worried about choosing a name that will compliment what we already have. We are obviously open to change, but I would still really like it to make sense with our nonsense.

I adore the name Emily. But in the U.K., it's SO popular. I know of at least 10 Emily's from the top of my head. It would've been a #1 contender if it wasn't so popular here.

I think that's why I've been in love with the name Emmeline for as long as I can remember, but will most likely be Emme, for compromise with DH.

My best friend is an Emily. Her mother is off the boat from Poland and thought her name was something completely different for a good while when she was little because she didn't get the American translatation. Even though she obviously named her.

I think we have another couple serious contenders for a boy names. DH said he wanted a biblical name so we came up with -
Sebastian
Abel

A local area couple just had a baby boy and named him Wesley so that one is out. They would end up being in the same grade and we don't need 2 of them.
