This is what i did/still do. Open door to let toddler/older kid into car, shut door. Buckle baby/younger kid into car seat / secure infant bucket into car. Go back to toddler side to buckle in toddler/older kid-- dont forget this part.
Me again. How do you fly with a 2 year old? Contemplating flying to visit my sister in July and I know H is going to start trying to poke holes in my plan with logistics questions. Since he will have his own seat, would you bring a convertible car seat on the plane for him to sit in? How would you go about lugging this through the airport? I'm guessing it's not a better idea to check it? I'd like to have the seat regardless so that we could use it in my sister's car. She has an infant seat we can use for M so I plan to fly with her in my arms.
I always bring the carseat on the plane. It's a good way to keep them contained. They know that when they're in the carseat in the car they can't get up and move about, so it's the same idea on the plane. It's also way safer than just trying to keep them in with a buckle that's not meant for 2 year olds.
We have a backpack carseat carrier, so we wear it through the airport pretty easily. But we also don't travel with a stroller, just a carrier, so really it's the only thing we're carrying through the airport other than a diaper bag and the kids. Save
I have not flown with a 2 year old but I know they sell and probably rent these carts with wheels that you can use to hook on the carseat so you can push it through the airport like this
I would not check the car seat for fear of damaging it. Also better for him to sit in it on the plane.
I'm sure you could probably rent a car seat at your destination too, but in your case I would probably just bring it.
carrots when we went to Hawaii this winter, we brought DS's car seat in the plane and DD was on our laps. We checked her car seat as we wanted to have ours with us on our trip.
We brought our double stroller (which is a front/back stroller, not side by side seats) through the airport and they gate checked it on every flight. The kids hardly even sat in the stroller, mostly just when we were in a couple long lineups, it was super convenient for pushing DS's car seat and all our carry on bags around. It worked well for us!

michyme123 I never have had to deal with it yet but at preschool the other day when I was in helping the teacher noticed one of the kids who is nearly 4 had it! She was surprised to see it but I have no idea if it's normal or not.
michyme123, when SIL was cutting W's hair a month or two ago she noticed he had a touch of cradle cap, and then she commented that our niece had it off and on also until she was somewhere toddler-aged, so I haven't given it a second thought. Since then, we haven't noticed it again really, so I'm not sure if it's one of those things that can come and go for a long time, or it was a weather change that made his skin weird again or what. He did have it pretty bad as a baby, and it was really mild compared to how it had been.
michyme123, I had cradle cap as late as Kindergarten. I actually have a memory of my mom combing through my hair and picking some of it out. Weird memory, I know.
